The 2021 partypoker LIVE MILLIONS North Cyprus has commenced at the five-star Merit Crystal Cove Hotel Casino & Spa in Girne. After a break of one and a half years, the popular live poker festival is off to a decent start with 121 entries for Day 1a of the $2,200 Warm Up, putting the tournament on track to easily crush the $500,000 guarantee with three starting days to come.

The tournament featured 92 unique players and 29 re-entries, and 52 hopefuls survived after eight levels of 60 minutes each. Only two of them have accumulated more than half a million in chips and those are Muharrem Atsiz (604,500) and Yasen Dichev (549,400). Other notables with big stacks are Tony Aziz (486,600), Omid Mojaverian (471,300), Piotr Sowinski (384,600), and Ravil Khamatgareev (290,300).

Among those who entered and failed to bag and tag chips for the night were the 2020 WSOP Online Main Event winner Stoyan Madanzhiev, Paul Newey, Selahaddin Bedir, Marwan Salamoun, Sergio Fernandez Bernal, Zorlu Er, Alexander Lakhov, Anatoly Korochenskiy, and Ran Azor.

Madanzhiev was caught bluffing with just a pair of sixes on the first bullet and the second attempt saw his top two pair with ace-king go down in flames against a rivered flush for the vast majority of his stack. Another player that was certainly involved in a lot of action was Lithuania's Mantas Nanartavicius. He was among the very early chip leaders and then went on a rollercoaster ride throughout the day, eventually ending it with 326,200. One of the setbacks included the double up of Sowinski, who hero-called correctly with the second pair in a large pot.

Stefan Fabian seemed destined to battle for the overnight chip lead but suffered a big blow in the final level of the night when he was caught bluffing with a busted flush draw. Omid Mojaverian called with just the top pair and was good to end the night in the top 10.

Ultimately, more than half of the field was eliminated throughout the day and all those that didn't make it have another three chances to advance. One regular and two turbo heats remain for the upcoming two days and the late registration also remains open for another four levels on Day 2, which takes place on Saturday, September 18.

The PokerNews team will provide updates for this tournament from start-to-finish and also pick up the action in the $5,300 Main Event as well.

Stefan Fabian

A big pot unfolded when Omid Mojaverian raised to 4,500 in the cutoff and Stefan Fabian three-bet the button to 14,000. Mojaverian then four-bet to 34,500 and Fabian called. As the flop came {k-Spades}{j-Clubs}{4-Spades}, the continuation bet of Mojaverian for 23,000 was called.

The {3-Hearts} turn brought another bet worth 53,000 and a call. Mojaverian then tank-checked the {4-Hearts} on the river and Fabian moved all-in almost immediately. Mojaverian now tanked for another three minutes and then called all-in for 123,400. Fabian rolled over {8-Spades}{7-Spades} for a missed flush draw and his opponent doubled with the {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} for top pair.

Picking up the action on the {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} flop, Recep Aydemir bet 5,000 on the button and Musa Barindik called in the big blind. Niko Koop then raised to 22,000 and Aydemir eventually folded. Barindik moved all-in and Koop called all-in for 80,400.

Aydemir asked for a count on Barindik's stack, which was 131,600 total, and opted to fold.

Niko Koop: {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}
Musa Barindik: {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

"I thought you had eight nine of diamonds," Koop said and Barindik predicted the eight of diamonds to appear. That was not the case on the {k-Hearts} turn and {a-Diamonds} river but he got there regardless with the flush.

Korochenskiy Eliminated by Badulin

Anatoly Korochenskiy
Anatoly Korochenskiy

In a battle between two Casino Sochi regulars, Alexey Badulin bet the {j-Spades}{9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} flop for 20,000 into around 45,000. Anatoly Korochenskiy jammed for what appeared to be 60,000 and Badulin took a minute before making the call.

Anatoly Korochenskiy: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Alexey Badulin: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

The {a-Hearts} turn and {j-Diamonds} river failed to improve Korochenskiy and he was sent to the rail, apparently not happy about the delayed call.

Mantas Nanartavicius raied to 3,000 and Farouk Al Gosaibi three-bet to 14,000 in the cutoff. Recep Aydemir then four-bet jammed for 98,400 and Nanartavicius asked for a count. He then shipped it in and Al Gosaibi called for fewer than that.

Farouk Al Gosaibi: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}
Recep Aydemir: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Mantas Nanartavicius: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

The {j-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{2-Hearts} board connected with neither player and ace-king high was enough to scoop it all.

Nanartavicius Doubles Sowinski and Busts Periaux

Niveau 4 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Mantas Nanartavicius
Mantas Nanartavicius

The stack of Mantas Nanartavicius took a massive blow when he splashed in all his big chips on the river of a {k-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} board. Piotr Sowinski only had 128,300 behind and eventually made the call. Nanartavicius turned over {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for a pair of sixes and missed open-ender plus flush draw.

Sowinski had that beat with {9-Spades}{8-Spades} for just the second pair and doubled into the current lead.

Shortly after, Nanartavicius bounced back when his {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} prevailed against the {8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} of Ludovic Periaux. The chips went in after the {q-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop and Periaux was in dire shape with {8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} for the second pair. Nanartavicius tabled {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} for top set and had nothing to fear on the {3-Spades} turn and {9-Hearts} river runout.

Tugce Hursoz bet the three-way flop of {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{6-Spades} for 3,500 and then called a raise to 7,500. There was no action on the {2-Spades} turn and Hursoz check-called a bet worth 15,000 on the {6-Diamonds} river. Her opponent flashed {a-Hearts}{3-Hearts} but Hursoz had that beat with {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} for aces and kings.

Yunus Nurullayev

Georges Hanna bet the heads-up turn of {q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{7-Clubs} and then jammed the {7-Hearts} river for around 70,000. Yunus Nurullayev snap-called and Hanna immediately asked if his opponent had a full house. He then exposed {6-Hearts}{5-Clubs} for the eight-high straight and Nurullayev indeed had {8-Clubs}{7-Spades} for sevens full of eights.

The stacks were counted and Nurullayev had 72,000 for the superior stack size.
