Set-Over-Set Debacle for Plesuv

Pavel Plesuv
Pavel Plesuv

Pavel Plesuv raised to 11,000 first to act with the {7-Spades}{7-Hearts} over on the feature table and Pavel Veksler in the cutoff three-bet to 34,000 with the {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}, Plesuv called. The flop of {J-Hearts}{10-Spades}{7-Clubs} gave both players a set and Plesuv check-called a bet of 27,500 to see the {5-Hearts} turn.

Plesuv checked once more and Veksler bet 86,500. With 308,000 behind, Plesuv check-shoved and Veksler snap-called.

"Jacks?" Plesuv immediately asked and Veksler nodded. Plesuv needed the case seven, but the river was the {6-Diamonds} to end his tournament in the final level of Day 2.

Ditz Busts Luca; Takes From Vogelsang

Niveau 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Ivan Luca
Ivan Luca

Franz Ditz opened to 11,000 from early position and was called by Chino Rheem in middle position, Ivan Luca in the cutoff then reraised to 60,000 with a mere 2,500 behind. Christoph Vogelsang in the big blind announced a reraise to 109,000 and Ditz used one time bank before moving all in. That forced out Rheem and Luca let his shot clock run down to one second before calling, which even made the dealer smile.

Vogelsang folded and the cards were turned over.

Ivan Luca: {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Franz Ditz: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}

The {J-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{Q-Spades}{10-Hearts} board gave Ditz broadway and he may have very well become the first player to reach one million in chips in this event.

At the feature table, Shaun Deeb shoved all in for 31,000 from the cutoff. Marian Mik made the call from the big blind and covered Deeb.

Shaun Deeb: {K-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}
Marian Mik: {A-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

Deeb took a big lead on the {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{7-Spades} flop and only needed to fade the aces after the {2-Diamonds} turn. However, the dealer burned and turned one of them, the {A-Clubs}, on the river, and Deeb was out.

Calamusa Flushes Farrell

Niall Farrell
Niall Farrell

Pierre Calamusa raised to 8,000 and called a three-bet to 26,000 by Niall Farrell. Calamusa checked the {Q-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop and called a continuation bet of 20,000.

Calamusa check-called another 58,000 on the {3-Clubs} turn and Farrell then got his last 130,000 in after the {2-Clubs} river. It would be the last hand of Farrell, who held {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}, as Calamusa turned over {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs} for the flush.

"What a waste of time bank cards, I even had the ace of clubs," Farrell sighed.

Four All-In-and-a-Calls; Bubble Bursts

Niveau 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Hand-for-hand play was installed two places off the money, and in the first hand there were no fewer than four all-in-and-a-calls. All showdowns were postponed until every table had stopped dealing.

Stanley Lee Bubble
Stanley Lee Bubbles

Hand #1

First one up was Stanley Lee, who had open-shoved all in for 60,500 from the cutoff. Javier Zarco called the shove from the small blind, barely having Lee covered.

Stanley Lee: {2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}
Javier Zarco: {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}

Lee needed to catch a deuce but the {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{A-Spades} board left him drawing dead by the time the turn had arrived.

Hand #2

After a raise by Mihai Manole first to act, Luc Greenwood jammed the button for 51,500 and Manole called. Once the previous hand was done, the camera crew rushed by to film the showdown.

Luc Greenwood: {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}
Mihai Manole: {J-Clubs}{J-Spades}

The board came {Q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and Greenwood failed to connect, missing out on his overcards and flushdraw to ensure that the bubble would burst.

Luc Greenwood Bubble

Hand #3

Kristen Bicknell opened to 17,000 with 8,000 behind and Ramon Miquel Munoz called in the small blind. The remaining chips went in after the {K-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop and the following cards were turned over.

Kristen Bicknell: {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}
Ramon Miquel Munoz: {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs}

Neither the {5-Hearts} turn nor the {Q-Hearts} river were a threat and Bicknell doubled.

Hand #4

Matt Glantz, in middle position, moved all in for his last 46,000. Brian Altman, in the big blind, called.

Matt Glantz: {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}
Brian Altman: {k-Clubs}{q-Spades}

The board ran {10-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{4-Clubs} and Glantz doubled up.

With that, both Lee and Greenwood were out, dropping the field down to 127. All remaining players are in the money and guaranteed a money finish of at least $17,620.

In one of the first hand after the dinner break, Rainer Kempe open-shoved from the small blind and Eder Takashi Murata called in the big blind.

Kempe was in a great spot to double-up but faith would have it otherwise as the board ran out {4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}, pairing Murata on the turn. Kenney Pounds on Andrejevic

Bryn Kenney

Six places off the money, Bryn Kenney raised to 7,000, Andjelko Andrejevic called to his left and Randy Lew jumped in from the big blind. On the {2-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{8-Spades} flop, Lew and Kenney checked to Andrejevic who bet 10,000. Lew folded and Kenney check-called. The {9-Hearts} on the turn got checked by both players.

The river was the {4-Hearts} and Kenney checked a third time, Andrejevic bet 30,000, but Kenney had a trick up his sleeve and check-raised all in, putting Andrejevic to the test for almost 110,000 more. Andrejevic gave it up after quite some thought.

Kenney revealed the {5-Clubs} with a grin and Andrejevic smiled as well.

No Cash for Chen and Yoon

Andrew Chen
Andrew Chen

Andrew Chen had a little over 10 big blinds left and shoved those from early position with {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}. Franz Ditz looked him up with {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades} and had an easy hold on {A-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{4-Spades}{J-Spades} to eliminate Chen.

Chen was shortly followed out of the door by Brian Yoon, who had shoved all in for 25,000 on the button with {A-Spades}{4-Spades}. Felipe Pantoja, who has been meditating on the tournament floor during the breaks, called from the small blind with {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}.

Once again, the best hand held up on a {7-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} board and the field was brought down to ten before the money.
