Troisième du PLO High Roller 10.400€ du PokerStars Championship Monte-Carlo, le Team Pro Winamax s'impose à Barcelona pour son premier succès de 2017 et sa quatrième victoire sur le grand circuit. La deuxième en Catalogne où il avait remporté le 50.000€ en août 2015 pour 1 million avant d'en atteindre encore la finale en 2016.
Sylvain Loosli triomphe après un court dernier duel contre Pedro Zagalo avec qui il a dealé. Le Français aux 6 millions de dollars de gains domine un field de 111 entrants, il avait terminé runner-up d'un side PLO à 5000€ sur l'EPT Dublin 2016.

Le November Niner WSOP 2013 encaisse 236 400€ pour ses efforts, le runner-up 231 400€. Les deux hommes ont joué le trophée et 10.000€. Zagalo était légèrement en tête au moment de l'accord, il avait débuté la finale avec le tiers des jetons en circulation du tournoi.
Zagalo a éliminé Eder Campana (8e) puis Oliver Weiss (6e) pour garder l'avantage et encaisser la moitié des jetons du tournoi. Loosli a alors doublé sur le Portugais à 5 left histoire de fendre l'armure. Après les sorties de Norbert Szecsi et Shyngis Satubayev, Loosli n'était plus si loin au chipcount.
Le Français a mal commencé le head's up, tombant à 50 blindes alors que son opposant en avait presque 4 fois plus. Mais Sylvain a mis la machine en route et commencé à empiler les pots avant d'attraper son adversaire en bluff avec top set.
C'est à ce moment là que le duo a entamé les discussions financières. Le Français a confié à PokerNews que bien qu'il considère le PLO head's up comme "son meilleur jeu", il voulait "réduire la variance". Chipleader au moment de l'accord, le tricolore a donc lâché quelques euros.
Peu après le deal, Sylvain Loosli va s'emparer des commandes du tournoi lors d'un coup où tout va partir au milieu au tournant. Avec Top deux paires et tirage couleur max, il va garder l'avantage sur les deux paires inférieures et un double tirage quinte par le ventre. Zagalo ne reviendra jamais...

Pedro Zagalo got all the way down to about 250,000 but crawled back to 600,000 or so through the accumulation of small pots.
The two finally played a big pot when Sylvain Loosli limped and called 90,000. The 
flop prompted a pot-sized bet and then a shove from Loosli. Zagalo stuck the rest in.
