Michael Mazilu Fires Three Streets

Niveau 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Michael Mazilu
Michael Mazilu

Daniel Nietrzebka opened for 2,300 and got calls from Michael Mazilu on the button and Zikai Li in the big blind.

The flop was {10-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{j-Clubs} and it was checked to Mazilu who bet 2,000. That didn’t shake either of the other players off and they saw the {7-Spades} hit the turn.

Action was again checked to Mazilu and he raised the price of poker to 4,500. Again both players called.

The river was the {5-Clubs} and it was checked to Mazilu for the last time. He fired again for 11,000 and Li and Nietrzebka surrendered their hands.

Sean Foley and Andy Black "Chase the Ace"

Niveau 8 : 400/800, 100 ante
Andy Black
Andy Black

At Andy Black and Sean Foley's table, they were floating the idea of putting €20 into a pot each, and the first person to table an ace when they won a pot (at showdown or elsewhere) would win it. Rory Rees was also interested, but in the end, no consensus was agreed.

In the very next hand, Black and Foley clashed on a {q-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} with Black check-calling a bet of 2,200 from his opponent.

The turn was the {k-Clubs} and both players checked. Black flung out a 5,000 bet on the {a-Hearts} river and Foley then raised in position to 12,000. Black called.

Foley showed {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs} for a full house and Black bemoaned being "pipped" and showed {a-Spades}{j-Spades}.

"So we would have chopped the €20," said Foley and Black laughed.

"You would have been the only player to lose money," remarked Black, pointing towards Rees at the far end of the table.

Jon Garde Cracks Kings to Double Up

Niveau 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Jon Garde moved all in from middle position for 10,200. Seamus Devlin was in the next position and called. The remaining players folded.

Jon Garde: {k-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Seamus Devlin: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Garde got to his feet, put his jacket on and slung his bag over his shoulder. The flop came {j-Clubs}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts} giving him a gutshot.

"Always a sweat," remarked Devlin.

The turn was the {10-Clubs} giving Garde a straight and the river was the {q-Clubs} confirming the Frenchman's double up.

"I should have stood up with you," said Devlin, "I would have won!"

Michael Mazilu Gets Paid

Niveau 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Mark Buckley opened the action from the cutoff for 1,500 and got a call from Michael Mazilu on the button.

Peter Robertson three-bet out of the small blind to 4,300 and with the big blind and Buckley folding, Mazilu stuck in the calling chips.

The flop was {9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and Robertson led for 4,000 which got a call from Mazilu.

The turn was the {5-Diamonds} and Mazilu called a 6,500 bet from Robertson.

The river {8-Spades} saw a check from Robertson and then a 6,500 bet from Mazilu.

Robertson counted out the bet and after some thought made the call.

Mazilu showed him {6-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for the straight and Robertson mucked.

Chris Moneymaker Chips Up

Niveau 7 : 300/600, 100 ante

With a full board of {4-Spades}{3-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{9-Spades}{j-Spades} out between Team PokerStars Pro Chris Moneymaker and opponent Thomas Gallagher, Moneymaker was sitting with a bet of 10,500 in front of him.

"How much do you have behind?" asked Gallagher.

"That's not a question you want to be asking," came the reply from Moneymaker.

Eventually Gallagher folded, and Moneymaker chipped up midway through level 7.
