Dan Shak got his 671,000 chip stack in before the flop holding against chip leader Jake Schindler with .
The flop was a safe one for Shak, and he maintained his lead on the turn, but the river brought the to give Schindler a pair of kings and end Shak's run in the 2017 Super High Roller Bowl.
Stefan Schillhabel opened for 38,000 on the button. Leon Tsoukernik announced a reraise to 137,000, and Rainer Kempe then moved all in from the big blind for 671,000. Schillhabel used a time extension and then announced he was all in for what looked like a little under 700,000. Tsoukernik quickly folded.
Schillhabel:
Kempe:
Kempe needed help but found the opposite on the flop. He would need improvement on the turn to have any hope, but a ended things early. Stacks were counted down and Kempe had some crumbs left. He more than doubled it up but remains very short.
Dan Shak opened to 40,000 and David Einhorn called from the small blind as the flop fell .
Einhorn checked and Shak continued for 60,000 before Einhorn check-raised to 180,000. With the action back on Shak, he moved all in for 1.4 million and Einhorn paused for a few moments before calling all in for his last 785,000.
Einhorn:
Shak:
Shak needed a lot of help to take the lead, but the on the turn was just what he needed, putting him far ahead with aces up. The fell on the river, securing the pot for Shak and eliminating Einhorn.
Koray Aldemir check-called out of the big blind when Byron Kaverman bet 57,000 on a board of from the cutoff. On the river, Aldemir checked a final time. Kaverman waited almost his whole 30 seconds before betting 110,000. Aldemir tanked long enough to use a time extension and then announced all in. Kaverman immediately asked for a count, which yielded 404,000. He thought enough to use his own extension and then dropped in some chips to call.
Aldemir simply nodded in resignation and showed for flopped two pair that had been counterfeited. Kaverman turned over for the nut flush.
Daniel Negreanu was heads-up with Jake Schindler on a board of , and checked from the big blind. Jake Schindler, on the button, bet 72,000, and Negreanu moved all in for approximately 210,000. After thinking for a few moments, Schindler called and tabled for aces up, which dominated Negreanu's .
The fell on the river, and Negreanu was eliminated.
On a board of , Daniel Negreanu bet 40,000 into his lone opponent, Brian Rast, who moved all-in. Negreanu called for the remainder of his stack and tabled , which was way behind Rast's .
The river brought the , which gave Negreanu the king-high straight for the double-up.
Welcome back to the ARIA Resort & Casino for Day 3 of the $300,000 Super High Roller Bowl!
Over two days of intense poker action, the starting 56-player field has now been whittled down to just 19 players all fighting it out to reach the final table and money-paying final seven players. Those seven players will all take home a piece of the $16,800,000 prize pool, but it will be the $6,000,000 first prize that everyone will be eyeing. However, before players can breath easy knowing they have padded their bankroll with potential millions, they'll have to survive a Day 3 that is expected to be filled with hot and heavy poker action.
Justin Bonomo ascended up the leaderboard on Monday winning numerous sizeable pots while eliminating players here and there. First he dispatched of Antonio Esfandiari and then Nick Petrangelo before a table move saw him capture a big pot off reigning champion Rainer Kempe when Bonomo flopped trip sevens and managed to find value through a big river bet from Kempe. Bonomo also had position on Daniel Negreanu and applied countless aggression in a plethora of hands until he finished the day as the chip leader with 2,628,000 in chips.
The only other player with over two million in chips is Day 1 chip leader Byron Kaverman who may have had a quiet day in the blog, but continually accumulated chips to continue his rise up the leaderboard. However the story entering today is the fate of the so-called amateurs in the Super High Roller Bowl. All five amateurs remaining bagged top ten chip stacks with Dan Shak (1,482,000), Bill Klein (1,466,000), Leon Tsoukernik (1,335,000), Cary Katz (701,000), and David Einhorn (685,000) all fairing better then many might have expected. On the other end of the leaderboard, Negreanu (225,000), Jason Mercier (243,000), and Zach Hyman (267,000) all sit below starting stack and will be hoping that a rush of cards early can set them on a path to climbing back up the leaderboard.
The plan for today will be to play down to the final table of nine, or a full seven levels, whichever happens first. The cards are expected to be in the air at 1:00 p.m. (PST) with the PokerNews Live Reporting Team providing continuous live updates of all the Super High Roller Bowl action live from the ARIA Resort & Casino.
