Predrag Lekovic Eliminated in 3rd Place (HK$1,398,000)

Niveau 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Predrag Lekovic
Predrag Lekovic

With one-minute remaining on the tournament clock before the end of the level there was a sudden burst of action that resulted in the elimination of Predrag Lekovic, who was down to just over 20 big blinds.

It was Fedor Holz who was the man to show Lekovic the door, making it 35,000 to go from the button and the Montenegrin moved all-in for roughly 320,000 in total and was quickly called.

Predrag Lekovic: {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Fedor Holz: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

Lekovic was the at risk player and found no help when the board ran out {4-Hearts}{9-Spades}{9-Hearts}{2-Spades}{10-Clubs} and he departed in third place for the equivalent of US$179,160 while Holz stacked up to 930,000.

The German extended this further playing his rush and snagging the chip lead just before both players went on a short ten-minute break, and is now sitting on a stack of 1,182,000 while Hao dropped to 868,000.

Status Quo Continues

Niveau 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

With the average stack coming in at a little over 42 big blinds the action has slowed somewhat this level and there have been no significant pots played in quite some time.

Su Hao tried to get something going with a button raise to 55,000 but was shut down immediately by Fedor Holz, who quickly moved all-in from the big blind and Hao folded just as quickly.

There was a hand that went to showdown between Hao and Predrag Lekovic but it was a limped pot between the two of them in the blinds with the {10-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop seeing no betting and both players seemed content to check the {9-Diamonds} turn and {2-Spades} river. Hao turned over {k-Hearts}{6-Hearts} but this was not enough to best Lekoivic’s {a-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}.

Hao Gives Some Back as Table Plays Small Ball

Niveau 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Su Hao seems to have taken his foot off the gas pedal a little so far this level, and the other two players seem content to let him and have been slowly chipping away at his monster stack. While there have been no significant pots to speak of both Fedor Holz and Predrag Lekovic have been taking little bites from Hao and have both increased their equity slightly.

Hao Extends Lead As Blinds Rise

Niveau 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

There have been no significant pots since the huge one that played out between Holz and Hao earlier, with most hands taken down pre-flop, though there has been a flop played, with Hao taking it down to further his lead.

Holz was the pre-flop aggressor, making it 27,000 to go from the small blind after Predrag Lekovic folded the button and now flush with chips Hao made the call from the big blind.

Both players checked the {6-Spades}{k-Spades}{9-Diamonds} flop and after Holz checked the {a-Spades} turn Hao reached for chips and led out for 75,000, which was enough to get the German to give it up.

The table played small ball for a while before the level went up with Lekovic limping the button and both Holz and Hao seemingly content to keep it friendly in the blinds.

Both blinds checked it over to Lekovic on the {5-Spades}{10-Hearts}{3-Spades} flop and the Montenegrin decided to take a stab for 20,000. While this was enough to get Holz to give it up Hao was going nowhere and check-raised to 42,000 in total.

Lekovic thought it over and tossed in the extras and the dealer peeled off the {3-Diamonds} turn. This saw Hao reach for chips once more, and he fired out a hefty 82,000, which was enough to get Lekovic to give it up and that was the last hand of the level.

Hao Seizes Lead

Niveau 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Su Hao - Fedor Holz
Su Hao - Fedor Holz

An absolutely huge hand has not long played out between Fedor Holz and Su Hao that saw the chip lead change hands in rather dramatic fashion.

Hao has been growing in confidence as the final table has progressed and
it was the Chinese player who was the initial pre-flop aggressor, making it 30,000 to go on the button the first hand back after the break.

Holz, sitting in the big blind, re-raised to 90,000 in total and Hao thought it over before making the call. The whole hand was a lengthy one that took nearly ten-minutes to play out in total with a lot of tanking going on, though given the amount of money on the line, that’s understandable.

The {j-Spades}{8-Spades}{k-Clubs} flop saw Holz check the action over to Hao, who thought things over for several minutes before firing out a bet of 86,000 into the 180,000 pot, with Holz making a quick call.

The {4-Hearts} turn saw the German check to Hao once more and the Chinese player took several minutes before sliding out a huge bet of 218,000 in total, leaving himself 520,000 behind. Holz took a little longer this time around but made the call to grow the pot to 790,000.

The {7-Spades} river completed a possible spade flush and Holz quickly checked it over to Hao for a third time and the Chinese player quickly checked it back.

Holz turned over {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds} and looked slightly perturbed when Hao rolled over {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs} for a flopped top two pair. Hao, however, looked chuffed to bits and scooped the massive pot to climb to 1.27 million and seize the chip lead while Holz took a big hit and dropped to 390,000.

Hao and Lekovic Tangle Before Break

Niveau 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Su Hao is keeping himself in contention and the Chinese player has taken down a decent sized pot from Predrag Lekovic just before the break.

The Montenegrin player is the shortest stack by at least 200,000 in chips, but was the aggressor in this particular hand, making it 25,000 to go on the button. Fedor Holz quickly folded the small blind but big blind Su Hao looked interested and made the call to take play heads-up to a flop of {4-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}.

Hao checked the action over to Lekovic, who checked it right back and the dealer burned and turned {9-Diamonds}.

Given the chance to seize the initiative in the hand Hao seemed happy to take it and fired out a bet of 85,000, which sent Lekovic into tank mode, though he did eventually make the call after a minute's careful contemplation.

The {7-Spades} river missed both possible flush draws and saw Hao lead for a tickly 56,000 and Lekovic did not take long to let it go. The three remaining players are now on a ten-minute break.

Hao Takes More From Holz

Niveau 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Su Hao and Fedor Holz are tangling plenty and while Holz was having the best of it earlier things seem to be going the Chinese player’s way at present.

Pre-flop it was Hao who was the aggressor, making it 25,000 to go on the button, with Holz making the call from the big blind.

The German checked the {8-Clubs}{3-Spades}{a-Hearts} flop over to Hao, who continuation bet 39,000, which Holz called to swell the pot to 130,000. The {10-Diamonds} turn saw Holz check again and after some deliberation, Hao checked it right back.

Perhaps sensing an opportunity to steal the pot when the {j-Hearts} hit the river, Holz reached for chips and fired for 75,000, only to see Hao call immediately.

Holz tabled {k-Clubs}{3-Hearts} for bottom pair, but that was not enough to beat Hao’s {a-Clubs}{k-Spades} and the Chinese player took down a decent sized pot to almost draw level for the chip lead.

Alan Sass Eliminated in 4th Place (HK$964,000)

Alan Sass
Alan Sass

The final table is now down to three with Alan Sass and Predrag Lekovic getting all the chips in pre-flop. Sass was the shortest stack with a little over 17 big blinds and moved all-in with {a-}{k-} with Lekovic making the call with {7-}{7-}, which held to take play three-handed and see Sass take home the equivalent of US$123,540.
