It's Time for the Main Event! The Largest Buy-In of the Triton Super High Roller Series in Jeju Starts Today

Mikita Badziakouski has been here in Jeju all week and will look to go for back to back Main Event titles
Mikita Badziakouski has been here in Jeju all week and will look to go for back to back Main Event titles

It's been an exciting week of poker at the Triton Super High Roller Series in Jeju so far this week, but it's all been culminating to this; the HK$2,000,000 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event, roughly USD $250,000. At the last Triton stop in Montenegro, it was Mikita Badziakouski who bested a field of 63 entries and re-entries to lift the trophy and take home the first place prize of HK$ 19,618,400 or roughly USD $2,499,090. That event was held at the price point of only HK$1,000,000 so we'll likely see these numbers tweaked slightly.

In that event, Badziakouski defeated Rui Cao heads-up to claim the title. Cao, as well as several others at that final table such as Peter Jetten, Chan Wai Leong, Ivan Leow, and Steve O'Dwyer, have all made an appearance over the course of the week here in Jeju with Ivan Leow having the most success of the bunch. Leow has made three final tables over the course of this series so far, even bringing home a victory in the HK$500,000 Triton Hold'em Short Deck Event for HK$8,470,000 or roughly USD $1,079,586. Steve O'Dwyer also came second in the HK$500,000 Six-Max Event for HK$ 5,850,000 or roughly USD $745,372, falling to David Peters, so we're likely to see him here today as well.

This event will kick off at 4 p.m. here at the Landing Resort and Casino on Monday, July 30th with the plan being to play nine, one-hour levels on Day 1. Players will begin with 250,000 chips and blinds at 500/1,000 and late registration will last a total of 12 levels, bleeding over several levels into Day 2. Players will be able to enter multiple times before registration closes. Also to note, this tournament will once again be played with a 30-second shot clock that has become a staple of these high roller events.

PokerNews will be around for coverage through the entire tournament, so make sure to not miss a beat as the event kicks off soon!

Chen Takes From Greenwood

Niveau 1 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

With a board of {A-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{5-Spades}{9-Spades} out in the middle of the table, James Chen checked it over to Sam Greenwood. Greenwood put out a bet of 5,500 and Chen called.

The river was the {3-Spades} and Chen checked again. Greenwood put out a bet of 14,000 and Chen called. Greenwood showed down his {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs} but it was no good as Chen was holding {9-Diamonds}{8-Spades} for three of a kind and he would collect the pot.

Phua Calls Down Chen

Niveau 1 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Paul Phua called in the small blind and James Chen checked his option in the big blind.

The flop was {Q-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and Phua checked to Chen who put out a bet of 2,000. Phua called.

On the {A-Spades} turn, Phua checked again. Chen put out a bet of 5,000 and Phua called once more.

The river was the {K-Spades} and Phua checked a third time. Chen put out a bet of 13,000 and Phua dropped into the tank.

"Ten-decue?" he asked, talking his way through the hand. He called. Chen showed his {8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} for a bluff but Phua was holding {J-Hearts}{4-Spades} for a pair of jacks and that would earn him the pot.
