The 2018 Unibet Open Bucharest €1,100 Main Event played eleven one-hour levels. The Main Event started with 182 Day 1 survivors and didn’t manage to play down to a final table as seventeen players will return for Day 3 at noon local time, Sunday, August 5.

All the players have secured €5,870, but they’re hoping to be the next Unibet Open champion taking down the €103,060 grand prize in the JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel.

Chip leader at the start of the final day of the Main Event will be Anton Vinokurov. He managed to bag 2,930,000 chips, which is about three times the average stack at the start of Day 3.

Vinokurov is followed on the leaderboard by Florin Elisei (2,485,000), Vitalijs Zavorotnijs (2,100,000), and Day 1a chip leader Yaron Turgeman (1,300,500). Others that made it through to Day 3 of the Main Event are 2015 Unibet Open Glasgow champion Daniel Chutrov (610,000), and Unibet Poker Ambassador David Lappin (505,000).

The tournament will resume tomorrow, August 5, at 12 p.m. local time. They’ll start play with level 23 with the blinds being 20,000/40,000, with a 5,000 ante. Unibet Poker will provide the live stream with hole cards on a 30-minute delay at Twitch.tv/unibetpoker.

Day 2 Action

The day started with 182 out of 592 entries left in the tournament. The money would be reached at 87 players left and they started the day fast paced.

It took a little more than three levels to reach the money. Players that didn’t manage to make it include Unibet Poker Ambassador Rauno “Estonian Jesus” Tahvonen, Deddi Orpaz, Gerret van Lancker, Alex Hendriks, Unibet Poker Ambassador and esports superstar Alan “Hotted89” Widmann, and Unibet Poker Ambassador Dara O’Kearney.

Andrei Alecu ended up as the unfortunate bubble boy after he pushed all in with his pocket pair of jacks and he ran into the pocket queens of Elisei, who made Day 3 second in chips.

Once they were in the money, it was time to say goodbye to players like Unibet Poker Ambassador Fredrik Bergmann (80th - €1,860).

After Bergmann busted out it was all up to Lappin to represent the Unibet Poker Ambassadors and he ended up making it to Day 3. Gareth James (75th - €2,070), Day 1b chip leader Aleksi Himanen (65th - €2,300), Day 1c chip leader Anton Markov (43rd - €3,140), and two-time Unibet Open Main Event champion Mateusz Moolhuizen (35th - €3,480) all fell short of making Day 3.

Another player that managed to make the money was Dutchman Noud van Dijk. Van Dijk qualified for the Main Event for just €0,10. He ended up running his initial buy-in up to a €4 ticket, a €25 ticket, a €250 ticket, and eventually a €2,000 package for the Unibet Open Bucharest Main Event. Van Dijk ended up in 53rd place, banking €2,830 which would be a whopping 28,300 times his initial investment.

The 17 remaining players will return on Sunday, August 5, at 12 p.m. local time. The live stream will start at 12:30 p.m. with a 30-minute security delay because it will be streamed with hole cards. PokerNews will provide updates until a winner is crowned of the 2018 Unibet Open Bucharest Main Event.

Brutal Ending for Kirilov

Niveau 22 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Krasimir Kirilov
Krasimir Kirilov

Krasimir Kirilov opened for 60,000 from under the gun. It folded to Anton Vinokurov who three-bet jammed his chip leading stack.

Kirilov quickly called and was all in for a total of 660,000.

Anton Vinokurov: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Krasimir Kirilov: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}

Kirilov appeared to be in good shape to double up to a seven-figure stack. It was looking better after the {4-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{j-Spades} came on the flop and after the {Q-Hearts} appeared on the turn.

However, it was a brutal ended for Kirilov as the {9-Hearts} spiked the river to give his opponent a set. Kirilov was eliminated in 18th place for €5,290, while Vionkurov increased his chip lead to 2,865,000.

Decher Eliminated by Vinokurov

Niveau 22 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Ionut Alexandru Decher
Ionut Alexandru Decher

We lost a player at the feature table. Ionut Decher got his last 250,000 to the middle with {Q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} and had to win against the {A-Hearts}{10-Spades} from the chip leader, Anton Vinokurov.

Vinokurov almost flopped Decher drawing dead as the flop was {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{9-Spades}. It was all over on the {6-Hearts} turn and the {K-Clubs} river was a courtesy to complete the board.

Decher gets to collect €5,290 at the payout desk.

Tomasz Kozub: {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}

The board ran out {2-Clubs}{8-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} and Kozub was eliminated from the tournament and can collect €5,290 at the payout desk.

Lappin Folds to Elisei

Niveau 19 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Florin Ciprian Elisei
Florin Ciprian Elisei

Florin Elisei sat on the button as it folded to him and he raised to 35,000. David Lappin called from the small blind and the player in the big blind folded their hand.

The flop came down {9-Clubs}{4-Spades}{6-Diamonds} and both players opted to go for the check.

The {10-Clubs} landed on the turn and Lappin checked to Elisei again. Elisei went for the bet on this street as he put 32,000 in the middle. Lappin called within seconds and the {7-Spades} river came down.

Lappin checked again and moments later he was facing a bet of 119,000. Lappin took his time and folded after a couple of minutes while telling his opponent that he folded a "really good hand".

Sinclair Wins Big Pot Without Showdown

Jack Sinclair
Jack Sinclair

The pot already had about 70,000 in it and the board was already reading {8-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{4-Spades}. Jack Sinclair was facing a bet of 33,000 from Espen Roervik and decided to move all in.

Roervik wanted a count and Sinclair's stack turned out to be 117,500 chips big. Roervik thought about it for a minute before letting go of his hand and sending a big pot to Sinclair who didn't have to show his cards.

Ionescu Eliminated by Scobai

Niveau 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Bogdan Ionescu
Bogdan Ionescu

Silviu Scobai got a bunch of his chips in the middle to put Bogdan Ionescu preflop at risk. Ionescu had the better hand as he opened up {A-Spades}{10-Clubs} and Silviu Scobai needed to hit something with {K-Diamonds}{8-Spades} to bust Ionescu.

The flop was {J-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and Scobai had indeed hit on the flop to take over the lead. The turn, however, was the {9-Spades} to give Ionescu the lead back as he hit a straight. The river was the unfortunate {10-Spades} which gave Scobai the better straight to eliminate Ionescu.

Fredrik Bergmann is also seated at the table of Scobai. Bergmann and David Lappin are right now the only remaining Unibet Poker Ambassadors left in the tournament.
