Hands #3-7: Bullets for Soverel

Niveau 17 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Hand #3: Action folded to Sam Soverel in the small blind and he opted to limp with {10-Spades}{7-Spades}. Justin Young checked his {Q-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and they went on the {J-Spades}{5-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} flop. Soverel led out 22,000 and that was just enough to claim the pot.

Hand #4: Hijack Stephen Chidwick raised to 35,000 with {K-Spades}{10-Diamonds} but Soverel woke up with {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} on the button. Soverel thee-bet to 108,000 and Chidwick released his hand.

Hand #5: Boutros Nadim opened the action preflop and Justin Bonomo defended his big blind with {7-Clubs}{6-Spades}. The flop fell {J-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} and Nadim bumped the price to 80,000, forcing a fold from Bonomo.

Hand #6: Soverel raised to 33,000 with {K-Hearts}{4-Hearts} from the hijack and his left-hand opponent Justin Young flatted his {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. Both players checked the flop of {K-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{8-Spades} as well as the {6-Spades} turn. The river was the {10-Hearts} and Soverel checked one more time. Young bet 45,000, earning a call from Soverel who saw Young's runner-runner straight in the showdown.

Hand #7: Young opened to 35,000 with {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts} and scooped the pot without contest.

Hands #1-2: The Blinds Tangle

Niveau 16 : 7,000/14,000, 14,000 ante

Hand#1: Stephen Chidwick limped in from the small blind and Boutros Nadim raised to 39,000 out of the big blind. Chidwick called and the flop came {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}{5-Spades}. Chidwick checked his {8-Clubs}{4-Clubs} and Nadim bet with {a-Spades}{7-Diamonds}. Chidwick quickly folded and Nadim took down the first pot of the day.

Hand #2: The action folded to Nadim who just called from the small blind with {6-Hearts}{3-Hearts} and Sam Soverel checked his option with {10-Hearts}{7-Spades}. The flop came {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{2-Spades} and Nadim led out for 24,000. Soverel stuck around with his pair of sevens and the {j-Diamonds} landed on the turn. Both players checked to the {10-Diamonds} on the turn. Nadim checked again and Soverel bet 50,000 which prompted a quick fold from Nadim.

The Final Six Return for Day 2 of Event #1: $10,000 No Limit Hold'em

2018 US Poker Open
2018 US Poker Open

The final six players will return to the Aria Resort and Casino for Day 2 of Event #1: $10,000 No Limit Hold'em. Leading the charge is high-stakes poker pro, Justin Bonomo, with 1,610,000 chips.

Bonomo moved throughout the opening day with an above-average stack until he played a big hand with chip leader, Andy Park. Bonomo took over the lead when his pocket kings held up against Park's pocket sevens. From then, Bonomo slowly continued to build his stack until the day was complete with just six players remaining.

Among those six players are other high-roller regulars, Stephen Chidwick (665,000) and David Peters (623,000). They will come into the day as the two short stacks but are still around 40 big blinds deep. There will be plenty of time for the two of them to mount a comeback as they look to capture the first of eight events of the US Poker Open.
