Après Davidi Kitai (2014) et Bruno "Kool Shen" Lopes (2016), Adrian Mateos Diaz est le troisième Team Pro Winamax qui remporte le tournoi principal de son sponsor. L'Espagnol encaisse 1 million de dirhams (environ 89 000€) pour sa victoire sur un Sismix 2018 qui a généré 1252 entrants au Casino Saadi de Marrakech.
Déjà vainqueur de l'EPT Grand Final et de trois bracelets WSOP, le jeune homme ajoute un trophée à sa collection et couronne un début de sponsoring marqué par de nombreux gains à 6 chiffres. Avec 1,8 millions de dollars cumulés sur le circuit depuis le 1er janvier et plus de 14 amassés lors d'un début de carrière fulgurant, Adrian s'est montré très zen à l'issue d'un Jour 3 qui aura été à sens unique. L'Espagnol a fait le job et il devrait enchaîner dès les jours qui viennent...
Adrian Mateos s'était enregistré tardivement au Jour 1C avec l'intention de jouer son meilleur poker. Le plan a fonctionné à merveille.
Quatrième au chipcount en début de journée, l'Espagnol a déroulé une partition parfaite jusqu'au head's up remporté face au Portugais chiplleader à l'entame du Jour 3 : Henrique Pinho.

Le Jour 3 s'est étalé 9 heures disputées à un gros rythme. 4 joueurs ont sauté dès la première demi heure, réduisant le field à 13 joueurs. Exit Moundir Zoughari tandis que Sylvain Loosli trouvait un double-up.
L'évidence Mateos va se renforcer dès les demi-finales avec un

Le Français Corentin Ropert va alors rapidement s'emparer de la tête du tournoi, avant que Mateos ne reprenne son bien en dégommant définitivement Tavares.
Dominant lors du 4-handed, Mateos Diaz va trouver les sur l'unique 5-bet à tapis qu'il va entendre. Corentin Ropert s'incline avec pour 32 200€, son plus gros gain en live. Il va ensuite tranquillement voir Pinho s'offrir un head's up en sortant Mehdi Merai.

Leo Margets: “It’s incredible; I think it’s five years since he last played a 500 event. With an online series and everything we just come here to play whatever, but what’s more incredible is his attitude. No matter what he’s playing, when he sits down at the table, he plays to win.
