Welcome to Day 1c of Event #10: $5,000 Main Event Championship at the 2023 World Series of Poker Paradise. Cards go in the air at noon local time for the third of four opening flights.

The flagship event of the first-ever WSOP Paradise series has drawn 1,172 entries so far, and 176 players have moved on to Tuesday’s Day 2. Day 1a saw 657 entries through the turnstile and 98 of them have moved on, while 78 of the 515 entries on Day 1b will join them. They’re all fighting for the unique WSOP Paradise Main Event gold bracelet and their share of the $15,000,000 guarantee.

The Day 1c survivors will join the likes of Mustapha Kanit, Chino Rheem, Faraz Jaka, and 2023 WSOP Main Event champion Daniel Weinman, all of whom made it through Day 1a. They will be joined by Day 1b survivors Damian Salas, David Williams, Olga Iermolcheva, Adrian Mateos, Alexandra Botez, and their chip leader Jeffrey Trudeau.

Plenty of names have yet to find a bag for Day 2 and they will likely jump in again, including Ryan Riess, Shaun Deeb, Daniel Negreanu, Kevin Martin, and Kristen Foxen.

Phil Hellmuth dazzled the room on Sunday with his grand entrance as Poseidon, the Greek god of seas, storms, earthquakes, and horses. He failed to find a bag for Day 2, but he has two more flights to do so — though it is not expected that he will follow up with more pomp and circumstance in his subsequent reentries.

Players will start with 50,000 in chips and blinds kick off at 100/200/200. The plan is to play 40-minute levels with a 15-minute break every three levels, while a 75-minute dinner break is scheduled at the end of Level 9. The tournament will play into the money with 15% of the field moving on to Day 2.

Kolsberger Runs Queens Into Aces

Niveau 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

There was a raising war between Hyunseung Lee and Sebastian Kolsberger that saw Kolsberger raising to 15,000 and Lee re-raising all in for 49,500. Kolsberger called off with slightly less.

Hyunseung Lee: AA
Sebastian Kolsberger: QQ

Lee's aces stayed ahead of his opponent's queens as the board ran out 4K982 to mark Kolsberger's elimination in the first level.

"It was a setup," tablemate Steven Caza told Kolsberger

Nanos Pressures Burlamqui; Wayne Gets a Shove Through

Niveau 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Konstantinos Nanos raised to 500 from early position and Leandro Burlamqui made it 1,800 to go from the cutoff. The button and blinds got out of the way and Nanos called. The flop was K26 and Nanos checked before Burlamqui fired 1,400. Nanos responded with a raise to 6,800 and Burlamqui called. The turn was J and Nanos bet 12,900 — too much for Burlamqui so he tossed it in the muck.

Meanwhile, "Boston" Rob Mariano has taken his seat at the same table.

Nearby, Alex Peffly bet 17,000 into a 6,500 pot with 932 showing on the flop. Mitchell Wayne shoved and Peffly got away from it.
