Jason Mercier Leads the Pack into Day 2 of Event #3: $100,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Super High Roller

WSOP Paradise Bracelet
WSOP Paradise Bracelet

Just five years ago, the idea of the six-figure Pot-Limit Omaha event was nothing short of a dream. However, this dream has become a reality at the 2024 World Series of Poker Paradise.

In 2021, the WSOP held the first $50,000 Pot-Limit Omaha event. However, the stakes have been raised here at Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas with the fifth six-figure buy-in Pot-Limit Omaha event in poker history, and the first at the World Series of Poker.

Day 2 of Event #3: $100,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Super High Roller kicks off at 2 p.m. local time. A total of 62 players tried their luck yesterday in Day 1 with just 26 advancing to Day 2 after 12 levels of play. However, registration remains open through to the start of Level 15 around 3:20 p.m.

The record for the largest $100,000 Pot-Limit Omaha event was recorded at Triton Monte-Carlo with 87 entries. Therefore, it is likely that today's event threatens that record.

Leading the way into Day 2 is six-time bracelet winner Jason Mercier who bagged an impressive 3,745,000 from a starting stack of 600,000. Mercier also held the chip lead after Day 1 of the $50,000 Pot-Limit Omaha this summer, but was only able to parlay that good start into an 18th place finish for $105,000.

Sitting just behind Mercier is Chinese high roller Biao Ding who finished with 3,400,000. Rounding out the podium in third is sports card enthusiast and Pot-Limit Omaha specialist Jared Bleznick with 3,180,000.

Play resumes at 2 p.m. in Level 13 with blinds at 15,000/30,000 with a 30,000 big blind ante. Registration and reentry (two per player) remains open through to the start of Level 15 at 3:20 p.m., with a starting stack of 600,000 chips. Only 26 players return from Day 1, but they are sure to be joined by more of the finest Pot-Limit Omaha players in the world.

Stay tuned to PokerNews as we bring all the action for Event #3: $100,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Super High Roller and other events here at the 2024 WSOP Paradise from Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas.
