Keith Ferrera Leads Remaining 20 Players after Day 3 of $1,000 DOUBLE STACK No-Limit Hold'em

Niveau 30 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Keith Ferrera

After three days of playing, the gigantic 5,700-player field in Event #34: $1,000 Double Stack No Limit Hold'em has been reduced to the last 20 hopefuls. Day 3 started with 162 players still in contention but that number dwindled quickly as players made their way to the payout desk in quick succession. As the day progressed, the action started slowing down and at the end of the day, 20 players found a bag for the fourth and final day.

Finding a place among the final 20 after navigating a field of 5,700 players is already a very worthy accomplishment, and each of the remaining players is rewarded at least a whopping $22,122 for making it to Day 4. However, the lion's share of the $5,130,000 prize pool is still up for grabs and a mouth-watering first place prize of $644,224 and a shiny gold WSOP bracelet awaits the last man standing on Wednesday, June 20.

Leading the way is Keith Ferrera with a stack of 7,550,000. Ferrera has a total of $238,187 in total earnings at the WSOP and will be looking to book his first-ever WSOP tournament win. Tomas Teran Paredes sits in second with 5,050,000 and Robert Peacock rounded up the top three stacks with a stack of 4,500,000.

Other notables still in contention are Matt Stout (3,920,000), six-time WSOP ring winner Joshua Turner (3,905,000), Pfizer Jordan (2,450,000), Pablo Fernandez (1,760,000), Azerbaijani high-roller Ramin Hajiyev (1,420,000) and WSOP bracelet winner Andrey Zaichenko (1,205,000),.

Daniel Colpoys started the day as the chip leader with a stack of 1,405,000 but could not keep it up and was eliminated in 77th place for a $6,803 payday. Some other big names that succumbed on Day 3 were Jake Bazeley (141st place), WSOP bracelet winners Phil Hui (107th place), Anthony Spinella (101st place), Nipun Java (87th place) and Tony Dunst (69th place), as well as Maria Lampropulos (79th place), Isaac Baron (66th place), Mike Del Vecchio (51st place) and Matt Berkey (24th place).

The final day will kick off on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at 12 p.m. local time and will recommence at Level 31 with blinds of 50,000/100,000 with a 15,000 ante. Follow PokerNews as our Live Reporting team will be covering this final day from start to finish.

Play Has Been Halted

Niveau 30 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

The 20 remaining players have bagged and tagged and will be back tomorrow, Wednesday June 20, for the final day of this event. End-of-day chip counts and a recap is to follow.

Massey's Bluff Attempt Gets Picked Off

Niveau 30 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

With around 700,000 in the middle and the board reading {8-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}, Ralph Massey in the small blind was heads-up with Keith Ferrera in the big blind. Massey made a large overbet shove for around 1,000,000 and Ferrera had a decision to make.

After a minute, Ferrera made the call and Massey tabled {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} for a missed flush draw. Ferrera flipped over {3-Clubs}{2-Hearts} for a wheel and that was enough to send Massey to the payout desk.

Fernandez Scores a Timely Double Up

Niveau 30 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Jacky Wong raised it up to 180,000 from under the gun and Pablo Fernandez shipped all in for 720,000 directly to his left. The action folded back around to Wong who thought for a couple of minutes before making the call.

Pablo Fernandez: {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Jacky Wong: {7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}

The flop came {k-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{3-Spades} and Wong picked up a straight draw to go with his two live cards. The turn was the {10-Diamonds} giving Wong even more outs. However, the river paired the board with the {10-Clubs} and Fernandez held on to score a double up near the end of the night.
