Babakhanyan Falls To Yu

Niveau 18 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante
Artem Babakhanyan
Artem Babakhanyan

Artem Babakhanyan limped in from early position and Ben Yu called in the small blind, Martin Kozlov checked his option in the big blind. On the {9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop, Yu checked and Kozlov bet 20,000 into 48,000, which both his opponents called.

After the {A-Diamonds} turn, Yu and Kozlov checked and Babakhanyan made it 90,000 to go with 260,000 behind. Yu check-raised for the size of the pot, making it 378,000 to go, and Kozlov was sent into the think tank. After one minute, Kozlov let go and Babakhanyan now had a decision to make. After checking his stack carefully, the Russian called it off and the cards were tabled.

Artem Babakhanyan: {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}
Ben Yu: {K-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}

"Do you have a set?" Babakhanyan asked and Yu shrugged his head, he instead had a straight draw and the nut flush draw. The {6-Spades} on the river improved Yu to a straight and Babakhanyan was eliminated before the money. One year ago, he made it all the way to the final table in this very event and finished 4th for $379,128.

"Did you fold a set?" Yu asked Kozlov while the table broke right after the hand was finished and Kozlov nodded, replied "I had fours."

Mercier Claims Sekularac's Stack

Niveau 18 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante

The cards were all but rushed away while Ognjen Sekularac's {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}{K-Clubs}{5-Clubs} were still visible and the Serb grabbed his belongings before heading to the rail. Jason Mercier dragged in the pot and Konstantinos Bouloutsos, as well as Dominykas Karmazinas, both confirmed what had happened.

Mercier raised from the cutoff and called the three-bet of Sekularac, who then bet the pot on a {Q-}{8-}{3-} rainbow flop. Mercier raised it up to give Sekularac all but two options, and Sekularac called with his over pair to get shown the {Q-}{J-}{9-}{7-} by Mercier. A {10-} immediately appeared on the turn to fill Mercier's straight and leave Sekularac drawing to the remaining jacks. He didn't catch one on the river and bowed out.

With 41 players remaining, Mercier has joined the chip leaders with a stack of 1.7 million.

The turn was the {2-Hearts}, both checked, the river was the {3-Spades} and Varnell checked. Mizrachi bet 128,000 and Varnell called.

Mizrachi tabled {A-Spades}{7-Spades}{K-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for the nut flush, Varnell showed {K-Spades}{2-Spades}{X-}{X-} for an inferior flush and Mizrach won the pot.

Santora Flushes Volpe

Niveau 18 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante

In a battle of the blinds, Christopher Santora ended up all in and at risk before the flop for his last 126,000 out of the small blind. He was up against Paul Volpe in the big blind with the superior stack and the duo turned over the following cards:

Christopher Santora: {A-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{6-Spades}
Paul Volpe: {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{A-Spades}{9-Spades}

The {7-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} flop gave Santora a flush draw and he immediately got there on the {4-Diamonds} turn to ensure the double up, the {J-Spades} on the river was a mere formality.

Kalb Sends Zack To the Rail

Niveau 17 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante
Dan Zack
Dan Zack

On a flop of {K-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{2-Spades}, a short-stacked Dan Zack ended up all in and at risk with the {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} for two pair and Jacob Kalb had him at risk with the {Q-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Hearts} for a wrap.

The {A-Clubs} on the turn immediately improved Kalb, and a blank {5-Diamonds} on the river sent Zack to the rail with his head shaking.
