The final 104 ladies return to battle at 12 p.m. today for Day 2 of Event #57: $10,000 Ladies No-Limit Hold’em Championship (with a $9,000 discount for women). The 696 entries generated a prize pool of $626,400 and the champion this year will receive $130,230 to go with the WSOP gold bracelet.

Mesha James is the biggest stack to start the day with 130,200 chips and hopes to make her first deep run in the Ladies Event. Rounding out the tops stacks are Vesna Kuzmanic (102,700), Jill Pike (94,300), Hana Cho (90,400), and Alexis Sterner (85,700).

With the fall of Heidi May and Svetlana Gromenkova yesterday before the money was reached, a new Ladies Event champion will be crowned this year. Some other notables still looking to be that champion include Natasha Mercier (63,700), Danielle Andersen (56,500), Jessica Dawley (51,000), Lacey Jones (50,700), Melanie Weisner (47,000), Kristy Arnett (38,500), Gaelle Baumann (37,000), and Cyndy Violette (14,300) who is the only bracelet winner left in the field.

On a raised pot, the board was showing {3-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs} when Traci Brown first checked, then raised to 5,000 after a bet from Anderson worth 2,000. Andersen made the call and both players checked on the turn {3-Hearts}.

The {j-Diamonds} fell on the river and after a long tank, Brown bet 7,000. Andersen thought about it for over a minute herself, then raised to 15,000. Brown folded and Andersen grabbed the pot. She has now a big stack around 129,000.

Violette was in bad shape for a double and the board {9-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} gave her opponent the nut flush. The only bracelet winner left of the tournament made her way to the cashier to collect her $2,219 prize for her 44th WSOP cash.

Gaelle Baumann

Carolyn Wilson moved all in from the hijack position and Gaelle Baumann reshoved behind from the button for a stack around 60,000. Tara Cain, in the small blind, looked at her hand and snap called the two all in players to create the following showdown:

Carolyn Wilson: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Gaelle Baumann: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Tara Cain: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}

Cain was in good shape to eliminate her two opponents and grabbed the huge pot after the dealer brought the {3-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Spades}{8-Hearts}{8-Spades} board. Baumann, who lost a massive hand against Cain a few minutes before, made her way to the cashier while Cain keeps climbing into the chip lead.
