The second of four starting flights of Event #62: $888 Crazy Eights No-Limit Hold'em Eight-Handed drew a total of 1,908 entries, but just 90 bagged chips at the conclusion of play.

One of the top stacks in the room is the one that belongs to bracelet winner Matthew Schreiber with 662,000. Schreiber accumulated the vast majority of his chips in the final level of the night in a massive clash with Debi Hinton. Schreiber held ace-four and rivered trips on a king-high board. Hinton, who held pocket fives, shoved into Schreiber and the bracelet winner called to soar high

Another large stack belongs to Troy Southerland (519,000), who won an enormous pot with a set of threes just before the last break of the night.

Day 1a, which began at 10am Saturday morning, drew 1,703 entries, so there have been a combined total of 3,611 thus far. With two more starting flights left to be played on Sunday, July 1, that number is expected to grow substantially. All surviving players will combine for Day 2 action on Monday, July 2. When play resumes, blinds will be 3,000/6,000 with a 1,000-chip ante.

Several familiar faces advanced alongside the chip leaders, including Nissar Quraishi (377,000), Jiri Horak (199,000), Shai Zurr (87,000), and Galen Hall (64,000). Hung Le, who won this event in 2016, advanced to Day 2 with a stack of 148,000.

Unfortunately, not all the fan favorites were fortunate enough to survive the day. Greg Raymer, Joseph Cheong, Shaun Deeb, Faraz Jaka, Alex Foxen, and DJ MacKinnon all left empty-handed, while Scott Bohlman, David Bach, Andrew Barber, Louise Butler, and Sebastian Pauli departed with consolation prizes. A total of 287 players made the min-cash in this flight, which was good for $1,331.
