Mai Lays a Bad Beat on Condo

Niveau 13 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

After an opening raise to 7,000, Nicholas Condo just called from the cutoff. Huu Mai three-bet to 18,000 on the button and the action folded back to the initial raiser who just called. Condo now made it 78,000 to go and Mai bumped it up again to 200,000. That got the third player out of the hand and Condo moved all in for around 300,000. Mai made a quick call with already 200,000 in the pot and the cards were tabled.

Huu Mai: {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Nicholas Condo: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}

The flop came {a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and Condo increased his lead with a set of aces in what was a huge pot at this stage of the tournament. The {q-Diamonds} on the turn gave Mai a straight draw and the {10-Spades} landed on the river. Mai completed his straight and Condo jumped from his seat and sent his chair flying. Mai just came back from a huge deficit to eliminate Condo from the Main Event.

Defeo Takes From Young, Climbs Higher

Niveau 13 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Gregory Defeo opened to 7,500 from early position. Jordan Young called from middle position.

The flop came {5-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}. Defeo bet 9,000. Young called. The turn brought the {3-Diamonds}. Defeo checked. Young fired 23,000, commenting, ''A little Michael Jordan on the turn!''

Defeo took a few seconds of reflection. ''You have a pair or no?''

''I don't think I'm allowed to say this, you got a pair?'' responded Young, jokingly.

Defeo didn't respond but proceeded to check-raise to 53,000. Jordan three-bet to 84,000. Defeo made the call. The {9-Diamonds} river completed the board and both players opted to check. Defeo tabled {2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} to rake in the pot and Young mucked his hand.

Four Dutchmen Down

Niveau 13 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Jochum Weenink was eliminated earlier today in a pot worth around 400,000 when he held {k-}{k-} and his opponents held {a-}{a-} and {j-}{j-}.

Paul Berende has also been eliminated as he tweeted that he reshoved {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs} into {9-}{9-} for 62,000 and the board ran out {10-}{8-}{6-}{x-}{x-} to not provide him with any help.

Oscar Kemps was eliminated when he shoved with {q-}{10-} for seven big blinds in the cutoff and was called by the player on the button who held {j-}{j-}. The flop came {a-}{j-}{a-} to give his opponent a full house. The turn was a {q-} but no extra queen came on the river to save Kemps' tournament life.

Joep Raemaekers just won a hand where the board read {k-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{6-Spades} with about 58,000 in the middle. Raemaekers was sitting in the small blind and bet 45,000 after considering his options for a while. His opponent in the big blind called after around two minutes. Raemaekers tabled {q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for the flopped flush and his opponent showed {2-Hearts}{2-Clubs} for the flopped set of deuces.

Steven van Zadelhoff just busted with pocket kings and Shaun Deeb was kind enough to recount what had happened:

Dong Kim had raised to 7,000 and one other player called. Van Zadelhoff three-bet to 27,500 from the small blind and only Kim called.

The flop came {j-}{10-}{x-}, Van Zadelhoff bet 25,000, and Kim called.

The turn was a {5-} and Van Zadelhoff bet 75,000 and Kim called with {j-}{j-} for the set of jacks on the flop to take Van Zadelhoff out of the running.

Lavenburg Sends One Home

Niveau 13 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Michael Lavenburg raised from middle position and three players called. They saw a flop of {10-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} and the action checked around. The turn was the {2-Diamonds} and Lavenburg bet 21,000 into a main pot of about 33,000.

The player next to act moved all in for 105,000 and it folded back to Lavenburg who called, turning over {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}. His opponent showed {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} and Lavenburg would need to fade an ace or a diamond on the river. The {5-Clubs} completed the board and Lavenburg's kings held up to earn him the pot and the knockout.

Hellmuth Busts to Arends

Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Over on the secondary feature table, Steve Billirakis made it 6,500 to go from early position and Jans Arends three-bet to 19,000. Phil Hellmuth four-bet to 50,000 and left himself 500 behind out of the blinds, which forced out Billirakis. Arends moved all in and Hellmuth called.

Phil Hellmuth: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}
Jans Arends: {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

Hellmuth was in prime shape to score another double soon after the previous one, and the {8-Spades}{6-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop was no threat. On the {3-Clubs} turn, Hellmuth only had to fear the remaining three nines in the deck, however, the {9-Hearts} fell on the river and that ended Hellmuth's bid for another deep run in the Main Event.

The record 14-time WSOP bracelet winner left the table with a smile on his face and shook hands with all opponents before leaving the feature table area.

All of the chips got in the middle preflop and it was Chip Jett looking to double up his stack of 119,500. Jett turned over {a-Spades}{a-Hearts} while his opponent was in trouble with {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}.

The board ran out {q-Hearts}{5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{6-Clubs}, which proved to be safe for Jett as he held on for another double-up and finally sits on a more comfortable stack.
