Burns Last to Reach Round of 32

Niveau 25 : 600/1,200, 0 ante

Sergi Reixach had been waiting for Charles Furey and Simon Burns to finish their match, the last one in the round of 64 still running. Eventually, it was Burns that emerged victorious at blinds of 4,000-8,000.

On the {j-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} turn, Furey jammed with the {j-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and Burns called with {10-Clubs}{9-Spades} for trips nines. The river was the {7-Diamonds} and Burns was the last player to book his ticket for the next round.

"Do you need a toilet break?" Reixach inquired and Burns nodded, quickly headed out of the tournament area.

Round of 64; Blinds 4,000/8,000

Jason McConnon and Phil Hellmuth had been tossing the chip lead back and forth for nearly three hours. Finally, McConnon moved all in for 74,700 on the button and Hellmuth asked for a count before making the call.

Phil Hellmuth: {k-Spades}{10-Hearts}
Jason McConnon: {j-Hearts}{7-Spades}

The flop came {a-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs} and Hellmuth's king-high was still in the lead. The turn brought the {k-Hearts} and McConnon was left drawing dead to the {6-Diamonds} on the river. Hellmuth headed for a quick break before his next match begins against Jake Schindler.

Schemion Defeats Boivin

Niveau 21 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

With 60,000 in the middle and the completed board showing {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{q-Spades}{7-Clubs}, Ole Schemion and Thomas Boivin got their stacks in the middle. Schemion turned over {k-Spades}{k-Clubs} for the nut flush and Boivin only had {j-Clubs}{j-Spades} for the inferior flush.

"Good game, I guess?" Schemion said and the stacks were counted. Schemion had 102,300 and Boivin was covered to bow out. Schemion will have a short break before taking on his match in the round of 32.

Hellmuth and Schemion in the Lead

Niveau 21 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

Phil Hellmuth has lost some pots and then pulled further ahead once more in the duel with Jason McConnon. The Brit limped and called a raise to 18,000 by Hellmuth. The {q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop was checked and the {k-Spades} turn brought a check of McConnon, a bet of 21,000 by Hellmuth and a fold.

One table over, the next fierce heads up duel continues as well.

In a min-raised pot to the {10-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop, Ole Schemion check-called a bet of 8,000 by Thomas Boivin and did so again for 20,000 on the {a-Diamonds} turn. They checked the {8-Clubs} river and Schemion tabled {8-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} as the winning hand.
