Day 3 Action

Ong Dingxiang came into Day 3 second in chips and never looked back. Dingxiang tallied up numerous eliminations throughout the day, but a big turning point for him was when he eliminated the Day 2 chip leader Romain Nussmann.

Dingxiang opened on the button with a raise to 190,000, Romain Nussmann called from the big blind. Dingxiang bet out 225,000 after a flop of {2-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} and Nussmann raised to 700,000. Dingxiang three-bet jammed and Nussmann called. Dingxiang had pocket queens {q-Clubs}{q-Spades} and Nussmann {k-Hearts}{6-Spades}. Nussmann had flopped top pair but couldn't catch up to the overpair of Dingxiang and Nussmann was eliminated in ninth place.

Baron was another player who got off to a really hot start after eliminating Hans Joachim Hein, Marc Robinson, Nicholas Dolen, Ryan Brown and Henry Lu. One of the big hands that catapulted Baron was when he called Lu's all in for 855,000. Baron was behind Lu's {6-Clubs}{6-Spades} holding {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} but the board would run out {k-Spades}{2-Hearts}{10-Spades}{j-Hearts}{q-Hearts} and Baron hit his straight to eliminate Lu.

The Hand That Changed Everything

Ong Dingxiang
Ong Dingxiang

It happened on Hand #48 at the final table when Stephen Graner opened with a raise to 260,000 from the cutoff, Ong Dingxiang three-bet to 930,000 on the button and action folded to Isaac Baron who four-bet to 2,600,000 from the big blind. Graner got out of the way and Dingxiang tagged along. Baron check-called the 1,700,000 bet from Dingxiang after a flop of {7-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{10-Spades} and both players checked the {9-Hearts} on the turn. The river came the {8-Spades} putting a jack-high straight on the board. Baron checked to Dingxiang who put out a bet of 6,600,000 and Baron instantly called.

Isaac Baron:{a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Ong Dingxiang: {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

Baron had the second nuts to a queen-high straight but that was no good as Dingxiang had the best hand with the king-high straight he raked in a monster pot that had over a third of the chips in play,
