Heimiller Picks a Bad Time to Call Three Barrels

Niveau 4 : 300/600, 600 ante
Dan Heimiller
Dan Heimiller

Dan Heimiller still has a positive stack for the day, sitting on 65,500 chips. He said his stack was up to 95,000 at one point, but called off about 30,000 chips in a hand where the opponent had {k-}{k-} and the board was queen-high with three to a flush on the table.

Heimiller reports that he called down on all three streets in this hand, and saw the bad news when his opponent turned over the pocket kings. When asked what he had, Heimiller said "not pocket kings."

Barbosa Fires, Fires, Fires

Niveau 4 : 300/600, 600 ante

Action checked to Juan Barbosa on a {3-Spades}{j-Hearts}{k-Hearts} flop, and he bet 4,000 into a pot of 11,300. The big blind called, as did a player in middle position.

The {10-Spades} hit the turn, and action checked to Barbosa again. He cut out a bet of 13,000, and the big blind called. The middle position player gave it a moment of thought before folding.

The big blind quickly checked the {2-Spades} river, and Barbosa jammed for 32,000. His opponent instantly folded.

Taylor Gets Bailed Out by Runner Runner

Niveau 4 : 300/600, 600 ante

Raymond Taylor got it all in on a flop of {a-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}, but it was looking bad for Taylor's {7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}, as his opponent called with {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}.

The {j-Diamonds} on the turn gave Taylor some added hope, and the flush came in on the river {2-Diamonds}, much to the angst of Taylor's opponent. Taylor now sits on 92,700 chips after the double up.

"Stapes" Can't Beat the Nine

Niveau 5 : 400/800, 800 ante
Joe Stapleton
Joe Stapleton

The cutoff raised to 1,800, and Joe "Stapes" Stapleton, who hasn't played a WSOP event since 2008 as he said earlier on Twitter, called on the button.

The cutoff bet another 1,800 on the {5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop, and Stapleton called.

On the {9-Clubs} turn, the cutoff bet 5,200, and Stapleton called again.

Both players checked the {8-Hearts} river, and the cutoff turned over {k-Spades}{9-Hearts} for nines-up.

"Oh, you are good..." Stapleton said before mucking his hand.

Casement's Set Fades a Huge Draw

Niveau 5 : 400/800, 800 ante

James Casement checked a {10-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} board over to a lone opponent on the button, who bet 10,000 into a pot of around 15,000. Casement responded with a check-raise all in for his last 34,900. His opponent tanked for minute, then confirmed the amount and called.

James Casement: {3-Hearts}{3-Spades}
Opponent: {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

Casement's set of threes was in the lead, but he needed to dodge a diamond that didn't pair the board or a queen to survive. The {10-Clubs} river improved Casement to a full house, and he doubled up.

Shak Goes Bust

Niveau 5 : 400/800, 800 ante

Facing a bet of 2,000 from the cutoff, Dan Shak went all-in on the button and got a call, going heads-up for his tournament life.

Dan Shak: {j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Opponent: {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}

Shak found his hand dominated in the showdown, and the board came out {5-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}, sending the high-roller fixture to the rail.

Men Nguyen Loses Ground

Niveau 5 : 400/800, 800 ante

Facing an early position bet of 2,000 and an all-in re-raise from the hijack, Men "The Master" Nguyen four-bet to 24,000 and got a call from the player in early position.

Nguyen turned over {j-Clubs}{10-Spades}, which wasn't enough to hold up against the early position player's {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} on the runout of {2-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{6-Hearts}. The all-in player was eliminated in this hand, and Nguyen's stack took a hit, but he still sits with 82,000 chips.
