Lehman Lays Down Jacks to Flack

Niveau 28 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Layne Flack
Layne Flack

A big preflop laydown for Mitchell Lehman saw him consider Layne Flack's shove over his initial 340,000 open for a good few minutes, during which Flack talked about 80% of the time. It was only Lehman's tournament life on the line, as Flack had him covered comfortably.

"You really do have something!" Flack said, "Didn't think you were that strong." Meanwhile we discovered that Flack is drinking vodka, pineapple and 7up, and that he's predicted that Lehman and he would play a four million chip pot at some point.

Finally, Lehman folded, showing pocket jacks.

"There's not a man on God's green earth that would lay that down to me," said Flack, tabling {k-Spades}{k-}.

"If I make it 600 [thousand] or 900, you might shove on me," he mused, "You're WELCOME!"

Another Double for Mullin

Niveau 28 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Peter Mullin
Peter Mullin

Peter "Mick" Mullin picked up {a-Hearts}{k-Spades} on the big blind - which represented about a quarter of his entire stack - just when Farhad Jamasi had opened with {a-Spades}{4-Diamonds}. Again, after a runout of {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{j-Hearts}, the loss of a few hundred thousand barely made a scratch in Jamasi's huge stack, but it made all the difference to Mullin, who'd just laddered past 45th place to guarantee himself a payout of $15,018, nearly $3,000 more than 46th.

Mullin Down to One Big Blind Again Survives Yet Another All-in

Niveau 28 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Peter "Mick" Mullin is still grinding the same sort of microstack he's had for almost two straight days now. It must be nearing a record, the number of times he's been all in, called, and survived with one or two more orbits' breathing room.

His latest feat of survival: all in preflop vs. Alan Ho and Farhad Jamasi, whose side pot was bigger than the main left for Mullin to potentially win. His opponents checked it down until the board stood {a-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{q-Clubs}{6-Spades}{8-Spades} and it was time for showdown.

Ho: {k-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
Jamasi: {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}
Mullin: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

Mullin's pair of aces took the small main pot and the rest of the table congratulated him. That exemplifies the kind of atmosphere surrounding even these late stages in the Seniors Championship.

Ho's Turtle on the Line

Niveau 28 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Alan Ho
Alan Ho

A big pot between Richard Sperberg and Alan Ho got a little odd on the turn, with the board standing {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{k-Hearts}. There was nearly 1,500,000 in the middle already when Sperberg checked and Ho, in position, verbally bet "three million" while picking up 300,000 in chips. The extra zero was made to stand, meaning Ho had set his opponent all in (for around one million). Sperberg went into the tank as the dealer began to count out the huge bet from Ho's stack.

"Stop counting," Sperberg said eventually. "Is the turtle on the line?" This referenced Ho's black turtle card protector that has been called "invincible" earlier today. Finally, Sperberg folded.
