Welcome to the Final Day of Event #39: $1,000 Super Seniors No-Limit Hold’em!

Barry Shulman
Barry Shulman

A tournament that was scheduled for three days has completed three days of play without a winner being decided. A total of 2,650 players entered Event #39: $1,000 Super Seniors No-Limit Hold’em with the hope of being crowned the Super Seniors champion and when play finished at the end of Day 3, there were only 10 players who still had that hope.

Of those 10 players, Michael Blake enters the day as the chip leader. He is sat behind 12,300,000 chips and Blake enters the day with a 77 big-blind stack and a commanding chip lead. Kanajett Hathaitham is in second place with 9,235,000 and Rick Austin is the only other player with over six million, rounding out the top three with a stack of 6,475,000. Everyone else has less than half the chip leader's pile, so will have work to do to keep in touch with the current leader.

Perhaps the most recognizable name left in the field is two-time WSOP bracelet winner Barry Shulman (2,665,000), who will begin play as one of the three shortest stacks in the field with only around 17 big blinds in his stack to start the day. Should Schulman double-up, he'll be a danger to the rest of the field, but he needs that boost to his stack first.

Cards are scheduled to be in the air at 11 a.m. local time with blinds returning to 80,000/160,000 with a 160,000 big blind ante. Levels will last one hour each with 15-minute breaks at the conclusion of every two levels. Play will occur until a winner has been decided and PokerNews will be covering hand-for-hand action every step of the way. Make sure to stick around and see who will triumph as they race to the bracelet.

William Davis Eliminated in 10th Place ($23,316)

Niveau 31 : 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante
William Davis
William Davis

Michael Blake raised to 550,000 from the cutoff and William Davis responded by three-betting all in for approximately 2.8 million. Blake quickly called and it was off to the races.

Blake: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}
Davis: {j-}{j-}

Davis held on the {3-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{3-Hearts} flop kept Davis in the lead, but the {a-Diamonds} turn was a disaster as Blake paired his ace to take the lead. The {6-Diamonds} river was of no consequence and Davis hit the rail in 10th place, which means the remaining nine players will now redraw down to the final table.

Hand #14: Miles Austin called from early position, Cary Marshall limped the small blind and Jeffrey Miller checked his option. The flop spread out {k-Clubs}{4-Spades}{4-Hearts} and action checked to the {10-Clubs} turn card.

Action was on Miller and he pushed out 325,000. Harris called all in for around 210,000 and Marshall folded. Harris tabled {q-Spades}{10-Diamonds} for tens over and Miller showed {a-Spades}{k-Spades} for kings up.

The {j-Spades} river changed nothing and Miller took down the with his flopped king, eliminating Harris from the tournament in ninth place for $29,939.

Hand #57: Bruce Treitman moved all in from under the gun for around 5,750,000 and Cary Marshall called in the hijack. Players turned over their hand sand Treitman would be at risk of elimination.

Bruce Treitman: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
Cary Marshall: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}

The dealer fanned out {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{2-Clubs} on the flop and Marshall took a commanding lead over Treitman's dimes. A {6-Hearts} turn card left Treitman drawing to a ten to keep him in the tournament.

The {j-Clubs} river card did not change a thing as Marshall took down the pot, eliminating Treitman from the tournament in eighth place for $38,802.

Hand #79: Cary Marshall opened to 700,000 from middle position and Jeffrey Miller moved all in from the hijack for 3,350,000. Marshall called and players turned over their hands with Miller at risk of elimination.

Jeffrey Miller: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}
Cary Marshall: {q-Spades}{7-Spades}

The flop came down {5-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Spades}, giving both players a flush draw but Miller was still ahead with his ace-high. The {2-Hearts} turn did not change much and Miller was in a good spot to double up. A devastating card landed on the river for Miller when the dealer filled over a {7-Hearts}, giving Marshall two pair and the pot. Miller was eliminated in seventh place for $50,751.

Hand #93: Cary Marshall raised to 700,000 on the button and Rick Austin announced he was all in from the big blind. Marshall commented that he forgot how short Austin's stack was and asked for the dealer to pull in 700,000 and give him a count on the remainder to call. The amount came to 1.475M, totaling 2.175M and Marshall dropped chips into the pot to call.

Cary Marshall: {3-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}
Rick Austin: {3-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
