Hong Gifted Back Into the Chiplead

Action was picked up in a hand between Jay Hong and Gary Gibbs just as the dealer fanned the {k-Diamonds} on a board reading {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}, and a sizable pot already in the middle. Gibbs, first to act, said "All in," and as soon as Hong made the call Gibbs then said, "You're good," and tabled {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for the missed flush draw, while Hong tabled {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for two pair and eliminated Gibbs from the tournament. Hong added almost 700,000 to his stack, which sent him back to the top of the leaderboard.

Rup Eliminates Hoelzle

Philippe Rup opened to 56,000 from early position and Melvin Hoelzle moved all in for 62,000. Douglas Fullerton flat-called and Rup then announced raise.

The floor was called and because Hoelzle's all in was for only 6,000 more he was not allowed to raise so just called.

The flop came {6-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and Fullerton check-folded to a perhaps predictable Rup shove.

Hoelze would need clubs or more to help him and the {7-Clubs} was a start. But the {q-Spades} wasn't enough and he was eliminated.

From middle position Roger Martin moved all for his last remaining chips, and when action folded to Kanajett Hathaitham on the button, he moved all in behind and both blinds folded their hands.

Hathaitham saw that he was way ahead prelop, but those odds changed on the {2-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{q-Hearts} flop. The {10-Diamonds} turn gave Martin even more outs to survive, but unfortunately the {6-Spades} river wasn't one of them and his deep run in the tournament came to an end.

Allyn Shulman was celebrating a double after cracking the {j-Hearts}{j-Spades} of Scott Roberts with {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}.

The board read {9-Clubs}{5-Spades}{k-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} with Shulman turning a flush to double up to over 700,000 in chips.

Fassett Scoops Another Pot With Jacks; Makes Quads

Kevin Fassett had already doubled through start-of-day chip leader Jay Hong when his jacks cracked Hong's queens. and he got in again with exactly the same hands against James Plateroti.

The {j-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop gave him a full house, and he turned quads on the {j-Clubs} turn. The river was the {10-Clubs} and Plateroti was eliminated.

Humberto Brenes moved all in for his last 250,000 from the cutoff and John Volpe called in the small blind.

Volpe showed {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} and Brenes, admonishing himself in Spanish as he did so, turned over {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}

There was no help for Brenes on the {4-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Spades}{2-Clubs}{8-Clubs} runout and he was eliminated, notching the 93rd WSOP cash of his career

Fassett Doubles Through Hong

Action picked up after the flop, but preflop action relayed courtesy of Kevin Fassett.

After Fassett raised it up 50,000 from middle position, action folded around to Jay Hong on the button and he put in a three-bet. With Fassett's turn to act, he then put in a four-bet shove and was called by Hong.

It didn't look good for Fassett preflop or on the flop of {8-Clubs}{4-Spades}{8-Spades}, but the {j-Spades} turn changed everything and the {9-Clubs} river secured Fasset the full double-up, while start-of-day chipleader Hong took a slight hit to his stack.

Blinds Will be Defended on Table #490

The following action took place in three straight hands.

In the first hand Steve Hohn raised to 40,000 from middle position, and when action folded to Craig Flyer, he three-bet to 133,000 from his small blind, which got a quick fold from Hohn.

In hand number two, Hohn again made it 40,000 to go, and was called by Flyer and Douglas Fullerton from his big blind. After Fullerton led out for 80,000 on the {6-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{9-Spades} flop, Hohn and Flyer both folded.

In the third and final hand Hohn raised for the third straight time, and when action folded around to Douglas Fullerton, he made the call from his big blind. After Fullerton checked the {8-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop, Hohn continued for 80,000. Fullerton then check-raised all in and was snap-called by Hohn.

Fullerton's top pair was behind Hohn's overpair, but that cahnged quickly after the dealer spread the {8-Clubs} on the turn and the {a-Spades} on the river. After the dealer counted down both stacks, it was confirmed that Fullerton had a slightly larger chipstack and Hohn was sent to the payout desk.

Three players saw a flop of {3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{4-Spades} and Phil Goatz promptly moved all in. Mary Haught was weighing up her options before calling, with Steven Wenrich getting out of the way.

"I hope you don't have a straight," said Goatz tabling {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} for a flush draw.

Haught turned over {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}

"Good hand," said Goatz. The turn was the {6-Clubs} and the river was the {6-Hearts} as eights held to send Goatz to the rail.

"I hope you don't mind if I take a picture," Haught asked the dealer. "I want to send it to my friends."
