Kazuhiko Yotsushika Leads After Day 2; Negreanu and Lisandro Still in Contention

Day 2 of Event #78: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Bounty started with 247 returning players, and after 10 levels of play only 42 remain. Kazuhiko Yotsushika finished the day atop the leaderboard with 2,148,000 in chips, followed by Joao Simao (1,855,000), Joseph Liberta (1,371,000), Jesse Sylvia (1,119,000) and Toby Lewis (1,062,000) who round out the top five.

The pace of play on Day 2 wasn’t quite as fast and furious as Day 1, but with 247 bounties still in play, each worth $500 each, there was definitely no shortage of action.

The money bubble burst in Level 13 after Daniel Negreanu eliminated Vamshi Vandanapu in 171st place, and the remaining 170 players were all guaranteed a minimum of $1,416. Many notables, including numerous bracelet winners, returned to play on Day 2, but the likes of JC Tran, Brandon Shack-Harris and Corey Hochman were sent to the rail without cashing.

Other Day 2 casualties who made their way to the payout desk included Ismael Bojang (170th place), Jessica Dawley (167th place), Phil Hellmuth (155th place), Jonathan Dimmig (60th place) and Conor Drinan (45th place).

Some of the notables that moved onto Day 3 include Bryce Yockey (1,003,000), Jeff Lisandro (488,000) Kevin Eyster (189,000) and Daniel Negreanu (120,000). They will join the other 38 returning players on Day 3 and play down to a winner. They may have $3,553 locked up and there are still 42 bounties in play, but they all have their eyes on the WSOP gold bracelet and $177,823 top prize.

Play resumes at noon local time on Thursday and restarts at Level 21 with blinds of 8,000 and 16,000. There will be a 15-minute break after every two levels and a 60-minute dinner break after level 26 (approximately 6:30 p.m.).

The PokerNews team will be there from when the first card is dealt until the last card hits the felt and the 78th bracelet of the 2019 WSOP is awarded.

Michael Amato: {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{7-Spades}
Connor Drinan: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{q-Spades}{2-Clubs}

The flop fell {3-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{10-Spades}giving Amato the open-ended straight draw and he would get there on the {9-Hearts} turn.

Drinan was drawing dead and the dealer completed the board with the {5-Diamonds} river and Drinan exited the tournament.

Pan Scoops Monster Pot Late on Day 2

Niveau 20 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

Action picked up on a flop of {5-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{2-Hearts} in a headsup pot.

The big-blind player checked over to Qinghai Pan and he put out a pot-sized bet of 80,000. The big-blind player then check-raised to 175,000 and Pan made the call.

On the {7-Hearts} turn the big-blind player moved all in and Pan asked for a count. Once the dealer confirmed 334,000 total, Pan counted out his stack and saw that making the call would leave him with 15,000 behind. He went into the tank for over a minute before he announced "Call."

All-in Player: {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{2-Spades}
Qinghai Pan: {8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades}

The all-in player had flopped top set, but Pan had straight and flush draws and needed to hit a card that didn't pair the board. The {9-Hearts} river was one of those cards and he eliminated his opponent late on Day 2 with the rivered flush.

Lance Howard opened for 25,000 from late position and Javier Zarco three-bet pot from the cutoff. Action was on the small blind player who four-bet pot getting a fold from Howard and Zarco jammed getting a call from his opponent.

Javier Zarco; {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}{6-Spades}{6-Hearts}
Opponent: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}

Zarco was behind but received some help from the {2-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} flop.

The turn fell the {4-Spades} and Zarco needed a heart to fall on the river to survive but instead, the dealer peeled off the case {4-Diamonds} and he was eliminated from the tournament.
