Spinella Makes Small Straight Before Break

Niveau 3 : 200/400, 400 ante

Action folded to the player on the button, who raised to 1,000. The small blind called and Anthony Spinella defended his big blind, taking action three ways to a flop of {6-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}. All three players checked and then checked again on the turn {k-Spades}.

The river fell {7-Hearts} and the small blind checked. Spinella bet 2,000 and the player on the button called. The small blind then folded.

Spinella tabled {j-Spades}{9-Diamonds} for a straight and his opponent mucked, resulting in him winning a small pot to get back over six figures as Level 3 expired and the tournament director announced the next 20-minute break.

Vornicu Eliminated by Zhu

Niveau 4 : 300/500, 500 ante
Valentin Vornicu
Valentin Vornicu

It has been a roller coaster day for Valentin Vornicu and his aggressive playing style resulted in heavy swings to his stack. Ultimately, he was left with fewer than half the starting stack and ended up in action against Yueqi "Rich" Zhu minutes after coming back from the break.

On a flop of {5-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades}, Zhu from under the gun check-raised from 2,500 to 6,500 and Vornicu in late position made the call to see the {7-Clubs} on the turn. Zhu pushed all in and Vornicu called for what appeared to be 11,000 remaining.

Valentin Vornicu: {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Yueqi Zhu: {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}

The river was the blank {9-Diamonds} and Vornicu was eliminated.

Leecy Wins Without Showdown

Niveau 4 : 300/500, 500 ante

Matthew Leecy had opened from middle position and had just called a three-bet from the big blind. There was 12,800 total in the pot as the dealer turned over a flop of {j-Hearts}{3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}.

The big blind continued with a bet of 3,000 and Leecy called. The turn came {2-Clubs} and the big blind checked. Leecy took about 20 seconds before he picked up chips and put out a bet of 3,000. His opponent took about the same amount of time and then slid his cards forward to muck them, resulting in Leecy taking down the pot.
