Wynkoop Emerges as New Chip Leader

Niveau 20 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Christopher Wynkoop just knocked out Thomas Drinkwater with {8-}{8-} against {k-}{8-} after getting it in on a {k-}{8-}{6-} flop.

The board bricked and Drinkwater was eliminated, with Wynkoop now amassing a stack well over four million.

"New chip leader," said tablemate Jean-Robert Bellande. "Chip leader alert!"

"You have like 1% of the chips in play," someone said. "But it feels like heaps now!"

Actually, it's nearer 0.8% of the chips in play but is still good enough for the presumed chip leader in the tournament.

Overpair Holds for Parkes

Niveau 20 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

In a three-bet pot, Thomas Parkes was heads-up with Joseph Cheong heading to the flop of {j-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{5-Spades}. Parkes checked from the big blind and Cheong quickly checked it back from the cutoff.

The turn brought the {10-Spades} and Parkes fired out a bet of 235,000 into a pot of around 450,000. Cheong called and the {4-Diamonds} completed the board. Both players knuckled the table again and Parkes turned over {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} to scoop the pot.

Merda Among Recent Casualties

Niveau 19 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Mitchell Johnson raised and Igor Merda jammed from one seat over, Michael Pearson then reshoved and that forced out Johnson.

The classic flip with the {a-Spades}{k-Clubs} for Merda and the {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} of Pearson was all but over when the {q-Clubs} appeared right in the window and Merda was drawing dead on a blank turn.

Cloutier Doubles Through Bohlman

Niveau 19 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Eric Cloutier open-shipped all in for 484,000 in the hijack and Scott Bohlman called on the button. The big blind gave it some thought but eventually decided to let the two players battle it out themselves.

Eric Cloutier: {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}
Scott Bohlman: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

It was a coin flip and Cloutier maintained his lead on the {9-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop. The {q-Spades} on the turn changed nothing and the {10-Clubs} on the river ensured Cloutier of a double up.
