Event #79: $25,000 Heads Up No Limit Hold'em [People's Choice Event, Most Popular]

Jour 1 a débuté

Event #79: $25,000 Heads Up NLHE [Most Popular] Starts at 6 PM UTC

David Peters
David Peters

At 6 p.m. UTC, it's time for one of the novelty tournaments GGPoker has on offer for this year's WSOP which is Event #79: People's Choice Event [Most Popular]. And it looks like the people chose for a $25,000 Heads Up NLHE tournament format. A maximum of 128 players will be trying to get to the semi-finals which will be played out on Sunday.

David Peters won Event #54: $10,000 Heads Up No Limit Hold'em Championship for $360,480 two weeks ago when he bested Michael Addamo in the final. Alyssa Macdonald and Chi Zhang fell in the semi-finals.

GGPoker changed things up for the previous heads-up tournament and will be doing the same today as every player will be playing under their real names instead of their nicknames. A tournament bracket will be set up about an hour before the start and will be posted once this has been received.

Felipe Ramos, Daniel Negreanu, Fedor Holz, and Danny Tang are some of the GG Network representatives who have already registered together with influencers like Phil Hellmuth, Pedro Velasco, and Ukrainian former professional soccer player Andriy Shevchenko.

When the players start their heads-up matches, they will get 100,000 chips in their starting stacks. The levels will go up every 12 minutes and start at 250/500 with no antes in play. The regular 6-minute breaks will still take place at 55 minutes past each hour.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be here from the first bet until the final match is over for today, so make sure to follow along.
