Welcome to Event #12: $500 The BIG 500 No-Limit Hold'em

WSOP Logo
WSOP Logo

It's going to be a "BIG" day on WSOP.com, as Event #12: $500 The BIG 500 No-Limit Hold'em kicks off at 3 p.m. PDT, and a huge field is expected to fire away.

Players will start with 20,000 in tournament chips for their $500 buy-in, and blind levels are 15 minutes in length. Late registration is open for three hours and fifty-five minutes, and players unfortunate enough to bust have the ability to re-enter up to three times during the late registration period. Re-entries have a thirty-second time limit, so players should make sure they have enough funds in their WSOP.com account prior to the tournament start. Tournament tickets may not be used for re-entry.

This is a single day event meaning the entire tournament will be played out online and the winner will take home a WSOP Gold Bracelet.

Chance "BingShiu" Kornuth was denied a second WSOP online bracelet (and third WSOP bracelet overall) by Raman "Acrogum" Afanasenka in yesterday's Event #11: $500 No-Limit Hold'em Turbo Deepstack 6-Max, and Afanasenka became the first international player to ship a bracelet during the WSOP Online series. Afanasenka, a native of Belarus, took home $128,601 and his first WSOP gold bracelet for his impressive performance.

The BIG 500 is expected to be a jam-packed affair, and Aaron "Aaronmermel" Mermelstein, Tony "Panoramic" Dunst, and Jason "GETVLOGGED" Abolsky have already signed up and will be firing from the start.

This is the twelfth of 85 bracelet events being held on WSOP.com (31 events – one each day for the month of July) and GG Poker (holding the remaining 54 events).

The former client will cater to players in Nevada and New Jersey (players in Delaware are NOT able to participate), while the latter will serve the international base.

How To Play

The first step in getting set up to play on WSOP.com is to download the client. You can do so for both mobile (Android and iOS) and desktop (Windows 7 or higher and Mac OS X 10.6.8).

To get the correct version of the client, use the links below:

WSOP.com Bracelet Event Schedule

The marquee tournament is $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em Championship, which takes place on Friday, July 31. All events will kick off at 3 p.m. PDT.

Satellites are running now for as little $1.

David “Twizzlers” Prociak Looking for Back-to-Back Final Tables

Niveau 1 : 25/50, 0 ante
David Prociak
David Prociak

When you talk about grinders, one name that constantly pops up is Florida’s David Prociak, who is playing in today’s tournament under the screen name “Twizzlers.” He is looking to make back-to-back final tables after finishing in fourth place last night for $41,472 in Event #11: $500 No-Limit Hold'em Turbo Deepstack 6-Handed.

He has more than $1.2 million in lifetime earnings dating back to 2015, including a career-best $330,912 for finishing runner-up in the 2015 Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open $3,500 Main Event. The following year, he took down the 2016 WSOP Event #60: $1,500 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better tournament for $156,546.

Toss in a couple of WSOPC gold ring wins, including victory in the WSOPC Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Event #7: $1,125 Pot-Limit Omaha 8-Handed earlier this year for $51,400, and Prociak is clearly a forced to be reckoned with.

Prociak, who learned to play the game by watching it on TV, rented an AirBnB in order to grind the online series and was kind enough to send us a photo of him in action.

You can follow him on Twitter @DavidProciakPok.

Back-to-Back Doubles for Brad "MrMonkeyBear" Owen

Niveau 4 : 50/100, 0 ante
Brad Owen
Brad Owen

Upon coming back from the break, Brad "MrMonkeyBear" Owen had just 882 in his stack. He's got nearly five times that now thanks to back-to-back doubles.

In the first, Owen cracked pocket kings with queen-five offsuit by rivering trip fives.

In the very next hand, "2DaRiverWeGo" raised to 300 from the hijack and Thomas "Yenowine" Yenowine called from the button. Owen then three-bet jammed for 1,914 from the small blind, "2DaRiverWeGo" called, and Yenowine got out of the way.

"2DaRiverWeGo": {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}
Brad "MrMonkeyBear" Owen: {k-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}

It was a flip and Owen pulled ahead on the {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} flop. Neither the {a-Hearts} turn nor {j-Spades} river changed a thing and just like that Owen chipped up to 4,228. Still short, but he's spinning.

The {4-Diamonds} completed the board on the river, and Freedman bet 3,900. "PGinTheWest" folded.

Roberts Re-Enters

Niveau 5 : 60/120, 0 ante
Lauren Roberts
Lauren Roberts

"HKUndertaker" limped in from under the gun, and Lauren "sycamore22" Roberts raised to 660 from the hijack. "Noahvdub" called on the button, and "HKUndertaker" came along as well.

Action checked to Roberts on a {4-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{j-Spades} flop, and she bet 1,080. "Noahvdub" called, and "HKUndertaker" check-raised to 5,130. Roberts three-bet shoved for 11,552, and after "Noahvdub" folded, "HKUndertaker" quickly called.

Lauren "sycamore22" Roberts: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}
"HKUndertaker" {2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}

Roberts picked up nine outs when the {7-Hearts} turn gave her the nut flush draw, but she re-entered after the {9-Clubs} river left the set of "HKUndertaker" in front.

Matt "Nitro0" Affleck Hits the Nitrous to Triple

Niveau 8 : 120/240, 30 ante
Matt Affleck
Matt Affleck

After a player opened for 240 and another called, Matt "Nitro0" Affleck moved all in for 2,469 from the cutoff. "Allen29" called next to act and then "first01" jammed for 18,515 from the big blind. Action folded back to "Allen29" and they called off for 18,176 total.

Matt "Nitro0" Affleck: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}
"Allen29": {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
"first01": {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

Affleck was in big trouble, but not after the flop came down {2-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} to give him trips. The running {3-Diamonds} turn and {3-Spades} river improved him to a full house and he shipped the triple while the other two players chopped the side pot.

Mike Matusow
Mike Matusow

Kenja "Chaos" Wiseman raised to 480 from middle position, and was called by Mike "Mouth123" Matusow in the cutoff and "bwizzod15" on the button.

Wiseman checked the {4-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} flop to Matusow, who bet 1,035. "bwizzod15" raised to 2,790, and Wiseman folded. Matusow three-bet to 10,440, then called off his last 9,298 after "bwizzod15" four-bet shoved.

Mike "Mouth123" Matusow: {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
"bwizzod15": {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}

"bwizzod15" had flopped a set of fours for the lead, but Matusow had plenty of outs with a gutshot and a flush draw. The {j-Diamonds} turn and {a-Spades} river failed to bring either draw in for "The Mouth", and he re-entered.
