Welcome to Event #24: $400 No-Limit Hold'em 8-Handed

The month long 2020 Online World Series of Poker on WSOP.com heads into its final week and the last eight-max of the series kicks-off today as Event #24: $400 No-Limit Hold'em 8-Handed starts at 3:00 p.m. PDT.

The final eight-max event features 15-minute blind levels and the $400 buy-in gives players 15,000 chips to play with.

The tournament allows players to re-enter two times with each re-entry lasting only 30 seconds, so players will need to make sure they have enough funds in their WSOP.com account before the tournament starts if they plan on re-entering.

Late registration and the re-entry option will be open for the first 3 hours and 45 minutes of play. Tournament tickets are not usable for re-entry. This is a single day event meaning the entire tournament will be played out online and the winner will take home a WSOP Gold Bracelet.

This is the twenty-fourth of 85 bracelet events being held on WSOP.com (31 events – one each day for the month of July) and GG Poker (holding the remaining 54 events).

How To Play

The first step in getting set up to play on WSOP.com is to download the client. You can do so for both mobile (Android and iOS) and desktop (Windows 7 or higher and Mac OS X 10.6.8).

To get the correct version of the client, use the links below:

The former client will cater to players in Nevada and New Jersey (players in Delaware are NOT able to participate), while the latter will serve the international base.

WSOP.com Bracelet Event Schedule

As previously mentioned, the online bracelet schedule for the Summer Online WSOP is comprised of 31 events running daily throughout July. THEY ARE ALL ONE-DAY EVENTS.

The scheduled WSOP.com events are available in hold'em and Omaha formats. Popular live staples like the BIG 50 and Senior's Event have been moved online.

The marquee tournament is $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em Championship, which takes place on Friday, July 31. All events will kick off at 3 p.m. PDT.

Satellites are running now for as little $1.

Greg Jennings and Daniel Lowery
Greg Jennings and Daniel Lowery

Jenny "Mobey" Svancara opened for 143 from early position and was called by "Greg "viejo_alegre" Jennings on the button before "gabpoker" three-bet to 650 from the big blind.

Svancara called as did Jennings brining the three players to the {10-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{6-Spades} flop.

Action was checked to Svancara who fired out 912 and Jennings raised to 3,100. "gabpoker" folded while Svancara called to see the {8-Diamonds} appear on the turn

Svancara checked to Jennings who jammed for 10,739 and Svancara called off her 9,760 stack.

Greg "viejo_alegre" Jennings: {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}
Jenny "Mobey" Svancara: {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

Svancara flopped top-pair but was still trailing "viejo_alegre's" cowboys and the {6-Clubs} river didn't change a thing as she re-entered the tournament.

Niveau 4 : 50/100, 0 ante
Maurice "Mac" VerStandig
Maurice "Mac" VerStandig

Maurice "Mac" VerStandig isn't a poker pro. While he plays recreationally, including in today's event under the screenname "mverstandig," he's actually the managing partner of the VerStandig Law Firm, LLC, which focuses on representing poker players, advantage gamblers, and other industry professionals in all manner of legal situations.

If you recognize VerStandig's name, it's probably because he's been involved in some of the biggest legal poker cases in recent years, including as the Plaintiff's counsel in the recently-dismissed Mike Postle civil case.

Occasionally, VerStandig will also voluntarily contribute legal articles on PokerNews, including popular ones on topics like "A Poker Player's Guide to Divorce," "One Tequila, Two Tequila, Three Tequila, All-In," and "How Gaming Wins and Losses Can Impact Your Tax Obligations," just to name a few.

In the live tournament poker realm, VerStandig has amassed a modest $11,186 in cashes, including four WSOP-related ones totaling $8,466. He is in action today currently sitting a tad below the starting stack.

Mark "horsey87" Mazza Looking to Replicate Reno Success in Online Bracelet Events

Mark Mazza
Mark Mazza

If you’ve ever been to Run It Up Reno, you’ve no doubt come across Mark "horsey87" Mazza. The Californian is a regular at the stop and has claimed two titles over the years. Back in 2016, he won a $235 NLH Six-Max event for $3,300, and two years later binked the $600 Thursday Thrilla for $24,100.

As far as the WSOP is concerned, Mazza has 16 cashes totaling $108,368. That includes a 33rd-place finish in the 2017 WSOP Event #47: $1,500 Monster Stack for a career-high $30,460. In this summer’s online bracelet events, Mazza has a pair of cashes, both from this past week.

First, he finished 124th in Event #21: $777 NLH 6-Handed for $1,429, and the next day placed 34th in Event #22: $500 NLH Turbo Deepstack for $2,913.

If Mazza, who according to HendonMob has career live earnings of $195,595, has his way, he’ll be able to replicate his RIU Reno success today on the virtual felt.

Brandon "Daedalus" Crouse raised to 1,000 and action folded to Mark "Pegasus" Smith, who defended his big blind. When the flop came down {9-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}, Smith led out for 500 and Crouse called.

That action repeated itself on the {10-Hearts} turn before the {9-Clubs} paired the board on the river.

Smith bet again, this time upping it to 2,000, and that did the trick as Crouse released his hand.

Jason "LuckDuck" Lawhun: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}
Phil "Lumestackin" Hellmuth: {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

It was a flip but Hellmuth couldn't connect with the {9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} runout as he doubled-up Lawhun and re-entered the tournament after losing his final 400 the very next hand.
