Welcome to Event #25: $500 No-Limit Hold'em Summer Saver

The final week of the 2020 Online World Series of Poker on WSOP.com is upon us as Event #25: $500 No-Limit Hold'em Summer Saver kicks-off today at 3:00 p.m. PDT.

The Summer Save event features 15-minute blind levels and the $500 buy-in gives players 20,000 chips to play with.

The tournament allows players to re-enter two times with each re-entry lasting only 30 seconds, so players will need to make sure they have enough funds in their WSOP.com account before the tournament starts if they plan on re-entering.

Late registration and the re-entry option will be open for the first 3 hours and 45 minutes of play. Tournament tickets are not usable for re-entry. This is a single day event meaning the entire tournament will be played out online and the winner will take home a WSOP Gold Bracelet.

This is the twenty-fifth of 85 bracelet events being held on WSOP.com (31 events – one each day for the month of July) and GG Poker (holding the remaining 54 events).

How To Play

The first step in getting set up to play on WSOP.com is to download the client. You can do so for both mobile (Android and iOS) and desktop (Windows 7 or higher and Mac OS X 10.6.8).

To get the correct version of the client, use the links below:

The former client will cater to players in Nevada and New Jersey (players in Delaware are NOT able to participate), while the latter will serve the international base.

WSOP.com Bracelet Event Schedule

As previously mentioned, the online bracelet schedule for the Summer Online WSOP is comprised of 31 events running daily throughout July. THEY ARE ALL ONE-DAY EVENTS.

The scheduled WSOP.com events are available in hold'em and Omaha formats. Popular live staples like the BIG 50 and Senior's Event have been moved online.

The marquee tournament is $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em Championship, which takes place on Friday, July 31. All events will kick off at 3 p.m. PDT.

Satellites are running now for as little $1.

Marvin "mkarlins" Karlins (AKA Duckman) Chasing the Poker Dream

Niveau 6 : 80/160, 0 ante
Marvin Karlins
Marvin Karlins

When Florida's Marvin "mkarlins" Karlins, better known to the poker world as the "Duckman" given his affinity for pocket deuces, heard there was going to be a World Series of Poker (WSOP) online series, he was quick to leave his home in Florida and set up shop in Las Vegas.

The 78-year-old Karlins has a passion for poker, which is a welcomed escape from his highly-successful professional career, which includes serving as a Professor of Management at the University of South Florida. He has written two dozen books and over 200 articles in professional, academic and popular journals. while also serving an international consultant to major companies specializing in the aviation industry (he worked with Singapore Airlines for 20 years).

In the poker world, Karlins has amassed $316,690 in live earnings including a career-best $119,957 for finishing fourth in the 2015 World Poker Tour (WPT) bestbet Bounty Scramble in Jacksonville. As for online play, this summer’s WSOP.com events are Karlins’ first foray into the online poker landscape, and despite his lack of online experience, he has shied away from competition. In fact, he's participated in all the hold'em events up until this point.

While he's still looking for his first deep run, he's hoping a bracelet run might be in store, maybe even today!

Ryan DePaulo
Ryan DePaulo

Ryan "joeyisamush" Depaulo, who won Event #12: $500 The BIG 500 No-Limit Hold'em a couple weeks ago, limped from the lojack and watched Byung Jun "YESUM1987" Kim three-bet to 432 next to act. "FISHandCHIPS" came along from the big blind, Depaulo called, and it was three-way action to the {k-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop.

Two checks saw Kim continue for 688 and "FISHandCHIPS" check-raised to 2,976. Depaulo called off for 2,359 and Kim got out of the way.

"FISHandCHIPS": {2-Spades}{2-Hearts}
Ryan "joeyisamush" Depaulo: {3-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

Depaulo had flopped top pair but was way behind the set of "FISHandCHIPS." The {6-Clubs} turn left Depaulo drawing dead and the {7-Diamonds} river saw the pot pushed to his opponent.

Depaulo opted to re-enter and reloaded with a 20,000 starting stack.

Ryan Laplante

Ryan "protential" Laplante, a bracelet winner and founder of Learn Pro Poker, was short stacked and moved all in for 3,294 from early position. "ZroCool007" three-bet to 7,200 next to act and then "NJ_Bronxpkrp" four-bet 19,197 next in line.

"ZroCool007" call and there was a side pot headed to the flop, which came down {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}{9-Spades}. "ZroCool007" checked and then folded when "NJ_Bronxpkrp" bet 23,994.

Ryan "potential" Laplante: {a-Spades}{3-Spades}
"NJ_Bronxpkrp": {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}

"NJ_Bronxpkrp" had pocket aces in the hole but Laplante was drawing very much alive to a spade flush. Unfortunately for the grinder, neither the {k-Diamonds} turn nor {10-Clubs} river completed it and he was sent to the rail.
