Event #15: $1,500 6-Handed No-Limit Hold'em

Jour 1 a débuté

Welcome To Event #15: $1,500 No-Limit Six-Handed

Isaac Baron
Isaac Baron

The first Six-Handed No-Limit event of The World Series of Poker 2021 will start today at 11:00 am.

This three-day event will see players on Day 1 each begin with a starting stack of 25,000 chips. They will play 17 levels with a duration of 40 minutes. There will be a 20-minute break every three levels. The players will have a 75-minute dinner break after level 9 (≈ 5:40 p.m) where registration will end (≈ 6:55 p.m.) before they return.

Isaac Baron is the reigning champion from 2019 where he took home his first WSOP bracelet and a cash prize of $407,739. Baron bested a field size of 1,832 entrants making the prize pool a whopping $2,473,200.

In this format, there is a maximum of six players at the table as opposed to nine, or sometimes ten in the more traditional multi-table poker tournament. The table positions in order of post-flop action are small blind, big blind, under the gun, hijack, cutoff, and the button. In a 6-handed structure, you will generally see a higher percentage of players seeing a flop, more hands being played per hour, and a lot less folding. The most significant adjustments for players in a 6-handed format are the loosening of pre-flop hand selection and increased aggression.

These adjustments make for a lot of action so be sure to follow along at PokerNews for all the live updates from the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino.

Futterman's Ace-High Good

Niveau 2 : 100/200, 200 ante

On a board of {j-Hearts}{3-Spades}{3-Clubs}{q-Spades} there was roughly 1,000 in the middle. The small blind and Nika Futterman both checked to the player on the button who put in a bet of 600. Both Futterman and the small blind made the call.

The river was the {7-Diamonds} and all three players checked. Nobody seemed too interested in showing as the small blind eventually showed the {10-Spades}{9-Clubs} for ten-high and Futterman showed {a-Spades}{5-Clubs} for ace-high which was good enough to win the pot.

Howard's Full House is Good

Niveau 2 : 100/200, 200 ante

With roughly 9,500 in the middle the board read {6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and Taylor Howard lead out for a bet of 10,000. His opponent stared him down and went into the tank for about 30-seconds before throwing in two 5,000 chips to make the call.

Howard tabled the {9-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for nines full of threes and his opponent mucked her hand.
