Taylor Left on Fumes Amid Controversy

Niveau 29

Esther Taylor

Esther Taylor: {x-}{x-}/{2-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}/{x-}
John Monnette: {x-}{x-}/{10-Spades}{7-Spades}{2-Clubs}{7-Clubs}/{x-}

John Monnette bet on fifth and sixth streets and was called by Esther Taylor, who had 10,000 left heading to seventh.

As Taylor was being dealt her final card, it hit her chips in the middle and flipped over, exposing the {3-Hearts}. Monnette argued that the card should be shuffled back in the deck, while Taylor said she was going to flip the card over anyway.

A tournament official had to be called over and the clock paused as the situation was resolved. The floor ruled in Monnette's favor, saying the card had to be replaced.

Both players checked and Monnette showed {10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} for two pair. Taylor had {6-Spades}{7-Hearts}{9-Spades} and mucked.

"That's as bad a ruling as I've ever seen," Peder Berge said after the hand.

Carol Fuchs Eliminated in 6th Place ($17,658)

Niveau 28
Carol Fuchs
Carol Fuchs

After opting to put in a full bet with her bring-in, Carol Fuchs was all-in on fourth street for her last 5,000 chips versus John Hoang and Peder Berge, who checked the pot down to seventh, when Berge put out a bet that Hoang folded to.

Their boards read:

Carol Fuchs: {x-}{x-}/{3-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{9-Spades}/{x-}
Peder Berge: {x-}{x-}/{7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{q-Spades}{4-Hearts}/{x-}
John Hoang: {x-}{x-}/{4-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} - folded

Fuchs could only show {8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} for a pair of sixes and an eight-seven low, while Berge showed {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}{2-Spades} for a pair of queens and a seven-four low to scoop the pot and eliminate Fuchs.

Espen Sandvik Eliminated in 7th Place ($13,202)

Niveau 28
Espen Sandvik
Espen Sandvik

On third street, Jermain Reid brought in with the {2-Clubs}, Espen Sandvik completed with the {6-Hearts} from his very short stack, then from another short stack, Carol Fuchs raised with the {8-Diamonds}, and John Hoang cold-called behind Fuchs with the {7-Spades}.

Sandvik put the rest of his chips in the middle and the others called as well to build a large pot before fourth street, with Sandvik all-in.

On fourth, Hoang caught the {a-Spades} and led out with a bet. Reid caught the {9-Clubs} and folded, as did Fuchs who caught the {6-Diamonds}.

Cards were turned over at that point as follows,

Espen Sandvik: {4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}/{6-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
john Hoang: {5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}/{7-Spades}{a-Hearts}

Hoang's runout was perfect as he caught {7-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{7-Hearts} to make a full house, while Sandvik couldn't improve or make a low to chop, and he was eliminated in 7th place.

Esther Taylor: {x-}{x-}/{6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{4-Hearts}/{x-}
Carol Fuchs: {x-}{x-}/{7-Hearts}{a-Spades}{3-Clubs}{a-Hearts}/{x-}

Carol Fuchs completed and was called by Esther Taylor. Fuchs continued betting through to seventh, when Taylor led out with a bet.

Fuchs called and turned over {3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{5-Diamonds} for two pair, aces and threes, and a low. Taylor mucked her hand as she dropped down to 200,000.

A few hands later, Taylor would get those chips back against John Hoang

Esther Taylor: {x-}{x-}/{4-Spades}{2-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
John Hoang: {x-}{x-}/{5-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{q-Hearts}

"That was such a good card for me," Taylor said after getting the ace on fifth street. Hoang hesitated before calling Taylor's all-in bet.

Taylor showed {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} for trip aces. Hoang had a flush draw with {7-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{5-Hearts} but picked up the {k-Spades} on seventh to send over a double up.

John Racener Eliminated in 8th Place ($10,095)

Niveau 27

John Racener

John Racener was down to his last 130,000 and got them all in against Espen Sandvik.

Racener was ahead with {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{6-Clubs}{6-Spades} for a pair of sixes going to seventh street as Sandvik was showing {7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{9-Spades}{3-Hearts} for a pair of fours. But Sandvik made two pair with the {3-Spades}, and Racener could only flip over the {8-Clubs} before wishing the table good luck.

Racener, who began the day as the chip leader, became the first player eliminated from the official final table.

Berge Takes Chip Lead

After John Hoang folded on fifth street to a bet from Peder Berge and a call from John Monnette, Berge and Monnette were left to battle heads-up for the final two streets of action.

Peter Berge: {x-}{x-}/{6-Spades}{3-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}/{x-}
John Monnette: {x-}{x-}/{5-Spades}{5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{q-Hearts}/{x-}
John Hoang:{x-}{x-}/{5-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{6-Clubs} - folded

The players checked sixth street, but on seventh, Berge bet after Monnette checked to him.

Monnette took a bit of time to think, then chose to fold his hand, awarding a decent-sized pot to Berge, which has given him the chip lead.

Perry Friedman: {x-}{x-}/{7-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{k-Hearts}/{x-}
Espen Sandvik: {x-}{x-}/{8-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}/{x-}

On the first hand back from break, Perry Friedman completed and Espen Sandvik raised. Friedman called, then called bets on fourth and fifth streets.

Sandvik bet enough on sixth to put Friedman all in for 60,000. "I guess I have to call. I may be drawing dead," Friedman said before calling. "Yep, no outs," he added as Sandvik showed {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{8-Spades} for trip eights.

Friedman finished with {5-Spades}{2-Spades}{7-Clubs} for a pair of sevens and was eliminated in 10th place. The remaining nine players are now redrawing for seats at the final table.

Friedman had two pair, fives and threes, with a low showing by seventh. "I have a low so I can't lose," he told Cozen. Cozen had a pair of nines but failed to improve on seventh, hitting the rail in 11th place.

Richard Bremer Eliminated in 12th Place ($5,195)

Niveau 25
Richard Bremer
Richard Bremer

Richard Bremer got the last of his chips in on fifth street versus John Hoang, then flicked in a small red lammer that said "one time".

The hands were turned up, and Bremer would need that "one time".

Richard Bremer: {k-Hearts}{7-Clubs}/{3-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{2-Clubs}
John Hoang: {4-Diamonds}{4-Spades}/{4-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}

Hoang was rolled up with fours, but Bremer had a flush draw.

Bremer drew a useless {j-Spades} on sixth, while Hoang added the {8-Clubs}.

On seventh street, Bremer got his one-time, drawing the {10-Clubs} for his flush, however, Hoang then turned over the {8-Hearts} for a winning full house to eliminate Bremer.
