Carol Fuchs Eliminated in 6th Place ($17,658)

Niveau 28
Carol Fuchs
Carol Fuchs

After opting to put in a full bet with her bring-in, Carol Fuchs was all-in on fourth street for her last 5,000 chips versus John Hoang and Peder Berge, who checked the pot down to seventh, when Berge put out a bet that Hoang folded to.

Their boards read:

Carol Fuchs: {x-}{x-}/{3-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{9-Spades}/{x-}
Peder Berge: {x-}{x-}/{7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{q-Spades}{4-Hearts}/{x-}
John Hoang: {x-}{x-}/{4-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} - folded

Fuchs could only show {8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} for a pair of sixes and an eight-seven low, while Berge showed {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}{2-Spades} for a pair of queens and a seven-four low to scoop the pot and eliminate Fuchs.

Taylor Left on Fumes Amid Controversy

Esther Taylor: {x-}{x-}/{2-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}/{x-}
John Monnette: {x-}{x-}/{10-Spades}{7-Spades}{2-Clubs}{7-Clubs}/{x-}

John Monnette bet on fifth and sixth streets and was called by Esther Taylor, who had 10,000 left heading to seventh.

As Taylor was being dealt her final card, it hit her chips in the middle and flipped over, exposing the {3-Hearts}. Monnette argued that the card should be shuffled back in the deck, while Taylor said she was going to flip the card over anyway.

A tournament official had to be called over and the clock paused as the situation was resolved. The floor ruled in Monnette's favor, saying the card had to be replaced.

Both players checked and Monnette showed {10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} for two pair. Taylor had {6-Spades}{7-Hearts}{9-Spades} and mucked.

"That's as bad a ruling as I've ever seen," Peder Berge said after the hand.

Monnette Scoops Huge Pot From Reid

Niveau 29

Peder Berge brought in the action with the {8-Diamonds} and was raised by Jermaine Reid with the {10-Spades}, behind him though was John Monnette who made it two full bets with the {k-Diamonds}. Berge defended his bring-in and Reid called as well.

On fourth street, Monnette was first to act and quickly fired out a bet that Berg folded to after he caught the {q-Hearts}. Reid however called, then called bets on every subsequent street.

john Monnette: {x-}{x-}/{k-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{6-Clubs}/{x-}
Jermine Reid: {x-}{x-}/{10-Spades}{8-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{5-Spades}/{x-}
Peder Berge: {x-}{x-}/{8-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} - folded

Monnette showed {k-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{2-Clubs} in the hole for two pair, kings and sixes, while Reid checked his cards a couple of times before tossing them into the muck and awarding the sizeable pot to Monnette.

John Hoang completed, John Monnette raised, and Peder Berge called. Hoang also called. On fourth street, Berge bet, Hoang raised, and Monnette called all in for 295,000.

Monnette once again complained that the dealer was counting the pots incorrectly. "It's like we're playing for play money," he said heading to fifth.

Berge bet and Hoang folded, leaving Berge and Monnette heads-up. Berge turned up {5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a pair of sixes, while Monnette was drawing with {a-Spades}{5-Spades}.

Berge made two pair with {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}, while Monnette didn't improve with {j-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} and left the table in a hurry. He was still in discussion with the tournament floor about the dealing several minutes later.

Jermaine Reid completed and John Hoang called. Hoang made a pair of sixes on fourth but threw his arms up in the air when Reid made a pair of kings. He called a bet and another on fifth.

Hoang took the lead with an all-in bet on sixth and Reid called. Hoang waited for Reid to turn over his {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{4-Spades} first before he showed {q-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} for a full house, sixes full of aces, to beat Reid's two pair.

Reid bet again on seventh and Berge called. "Full house," Reid announced, showing {j-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} for eights full of nines.

Fatigue Leads to Costly Calls, Hoang Doubles

Niveau 33

John Hoang

On third street, Peder Berge brought in, and John Hoang limped behind.

Hoang then led out on fourth and fifth streets, with Berge calling on each.

On sixth street, Hoang bet again, leaving himself just 210,000 behind, less than one big bet. Berge somewhat lackadaisically put forward a call.

"Just call?" Asked Hoang.

"Yeah, I don't wanna put you in", replied Berge.

Before seventh street was dealt, Hoang bet his last 210,000 dark, and Berge turned up his cards, showing {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} for a pair of jacks.

Hoang questioned whether Berge was calling, to which Berge said, "sure, yeah" and cut out the 210,000.

Hoang immediately showed {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for two pair, kings and sixes.

As Berge's chips were pushed to Hoang, Berge muttered to himself "that was stupid."

John Hoang Eliminated In 3rd Place ($48,138)

Niveau 33
John Hoang
John Hoang

John Hoang has just been eliminated from the tournament in a brutal fashion by Peder Berge.

On third street, Hoang brought in, then called a completion from Berge.

On fourth street, Berge check-called a bet from Hoang, who was getting short.

Fifth street witnessed Berge take the opportunity to bet first, which got a call from Hoang.

Berge then bet again on sixth street, and Hoang frustratedly smashed his last stack of chips forward to put his tournament life at risk.

John Hoang: {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}/{4-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}/{x-}
Peder Berge: {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}/{j-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}/{x-}

Hoang feared he may have been dead to trip jacks, but was thrilled to see his rolled up fours were actually the best hand.

Hoang opened an inconsequential {k-Diamonds} on seventh street, but then Berge slowly peeked at his final card and said, "I have three aces" as he flipped up the {a-Diamonds} to drive a proverbial dagger into Hoang, ending his tournament with a horrific bad beat.

Berge Spikes Sixth to Double Up

Niveau 34

Peder Berge and Jermaine Reid traded raises back and forth through fourth, fifth and sixth streets until Berge was all-in.

Peder Berge: {x-}{x-}/{9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{k-Spades}{q-Clubs}
Jermaine Reid: {x-}{x-}/{9-Spades}{a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

Reid thought he was in great shape and on the verge of a bracelet as he showed {a-Spades}{j-Spades} in the hole for two pair, aces and kings, but the queen Berge hit on sixth street had given him trips to go with the {q-Spades}{q-Hearts} he had in the hole.

Reid couldn't improve on seventh street with the {3-Hearts}, giving Berge a double-up and the chip lead.
