At day's end, it was Alex Foxen (2,070,000) who bagged the chip lead. Foxen, the well-known pro from New York, has more than $22 million in recorded live tournament earnings.

Foxen led throughout much of the day and secured his place the top of the leaderboard after a sick bluff against Kitty Kuo, and a couple of late-night knockouts. He is still seeking his first elusive WSOP bracelet, but he takes a big advantage into Day 3.

Some of the other notable players to bag up at the end of Day 2 included pros Adrian Mateos (1,465,000) and Felipe Ramos (970,000), poker commentator Jeff Platt (790,000), Alexandros Theologis (695,000), and Kyriakos Papadopoulos (610,000).

Those who fell throughout the day include Raj Vohra. He took down his maiden bracelet late Monday night. He managed to drill a two-outer to double early, but he did not find a bag. Shannon Shorr also found some early run good, but could not advance to Day 3.

Other notables to bust a bullet included Mustapha Kanit, Alexandre Reard, Manig Loeser, Qui Nguyen, and poker commentators Nick Schulman, Tony Dunst, Brent Hanks, and Maria Ho.

Follow all the live updates through the conclusion of this event, as well as our continuing coverage of the WSOP from its new home at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas.

There was already about 300,000 in the middle on the {2-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} turn when Alex Foxen bet what looked like 155,000 and Kitty Kuo called.

The river was the {q-Hearts} and Kuo checked. Foxen eyed his opponent before moving all-in for about 1,000,000 effective.

Kuo went into the tank but ultimately folded to preserve her 550,000 in chips.

Foxen showed the table {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs} ace-high as he extended his chip lead in the final level of the night.

Farrell On Fire

Niall Farrell

Mitchel Halverson bet his entire stack of 180,000 from the button with two players left to act. The player in the small blind folded, and Niall Farrell called from the big blind.

Mitchel Halverson: {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Niall Farrell: {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

Halverson was still in the lead with top pair after the {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{10-Spades} flop, but Farrell had a flush draw and over cards as outs.

The {6-Diamonds} paired the board, giving Halverson two pair, and Farrell needed some help to improve.

Help came in the way of the {k-Diamonds} on the turn to give Farrell the better two pair, and Halverson was eliminated.

There was already 150,000 on the flop of {4-Spades}{6-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and James Romero bet 45,000.

Alexandros Theologis then cut out a big stack and declared all-in for 700,000 effective.

Romero went deep into the tank before folding to preserve his last 220,000.

Farrell Felts Ownby

Niveau 18 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Niall Farrell
Niall Farrell

Michael Monicatti was first to act and bet 20,000.

Niall Farrell was in the small blind and James Ownby was the big blind, both chose to call.

Monicatti continued on the flop of {k-Hearts}{8-Spades}{7-Diamonds} for another 20,000, which Farrell called, but Ownby was playing for it all and jammed for 295,000. Left with a choice for all of his stack, Monicatti reluctantly folded, but Farrell asked the dealer for a count.

Satisfied with his holdings, Farrell called Ownby with two cards to come, and Ownby was ahead but at risk.

James Ownby: {7-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}
Niall Farrell: {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

Ownby had flopped bottom two pair, and Farrell had top pair with a good kicker.

When the {j-Hearts} came on the turn, Farrell's top pair became the best two pair, and Ownby needed to fill up on the river.

After the {9-Clubs} made the board, Ownby was eliminated.

Zamani Tries a Hero Call, Gets a Warning Afterward

Martin Zamani
Martin Zamani

There was about 165,000 in the middle on the {10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{5-Spades} turn and Martin Zamani bet what appeared to be 140,000.

Lander Lijo called and they saw the {q-Hearts} river. Lijo shoved in his last 200,000 and Zamani went deep into the tank.

"I feel like you're trying to run some ridiculous bluff," said Zamani. "It would be so silly if I lost to a bluff here."

After another minute in the tank, Zamani suggested the table could call the clock on him.

"F*** that," said one of his tablemates. "I'm finishing my beer."

Zamani finally stuck out a call and Lijo turned over {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} for a set.

Zamani put his cards in the muck and mixed them in to prevent revealing his hand, laughing hysterically as he did. Lijo however, was not amused and called the floor. Zamani was given a warning.

Jesse Solano was in late position and pushed all in for 86,000. Kitty Kuo was in middle position and called.

Jesse Solano: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Kitty Kuo: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

It was a classic race, and after the flop of {7-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{10-Spades} Solano was in the lead with top pair and ready for a double.

Kuo spiked the {a-Spades} on the turn, and the lead shifted towards her, with Solano standing up immediately.

The dealer barely set down the {3-Hearts} when Solano was already walking to the payout desk, having been eliminated by Kuo.

Lang's Lead Lengthens

Michael Lang

We picked up action with Michael Lang calling the all in bet of a player at risk on the button, with three cards {j-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{10-Spades} displayed across the felt. Lang had his challenger covered by a strong margin, and the cards we flipped for all to see.

Button: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}
Michael Lang: {8-Spades}{9-Spades}

The button pushed with top pair and best kicker, but Lang was open-ended for the straight.

It was a shock to the button, when the {7-Diamonds} fell on the turn, giving Lang the best possible hand. After the {3-Hearts} came on the river it was official that Lang became your current chip leader, and another player was eliminated after the bubble burst.

Platt Plays it to River

Jeff Platt
Jeff Platt

Diogo Veiga bet 25,000 from the cutoff on a flop of {a-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{9-Hearts}, and Jeff Platt called from late position.

The {6-Hearts} turn completed a possible flush, and Platt checked it to Veiga on his left. Following suit, Veiga checked as well.

On the river {7-Diamonds}, Platt announced a raise to 31,000, that almost sounded like he was commentating on it.

Veiga looked over at Platt, before dropping his cards face down in the middle, and Platt won without showdown.
