Dirksen, Marin Tangle as Chip Leader Steps Aside

Niveau 12 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

2-7 Triple Draw

Day 1 chip leader James Opie raised from under the gun and got calls from Roberto Marin, Peter Dirksen, and Cary Katz.

Dirksen and Opie drew two, Katz took three, while Marin took only one. Marin opened the betting and Katz and Dirksen called, while Opie folded.

Marin bet again after drawing one and only Dirksen stuck around to the third draw. "Nuts," Marin announced as he drew one.

Dirksen also drew one and led out with a bet. "I don't think you have the nuts," he countered.

Marin, indeed, did not have the nuts as he folded after some consideration.

Badugi

Robert Campbell is wielding a big stack and putting it to good use. In the last hand, he raised from middle position.

"Raise again? You got that frowning raise face," tablemate Nissen Osterneck said.

"No, this is my normal face," the 2019 Player of the Year replied.

Brian Brunner called the raise and drew two while Campbell took one and bet again. Brunner called, then folded to another bet after taking one on the second draw.

Park Takes From Wong

Niveau 12 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

Badugi

Action was heads up between Hye Park and Jerry Wong when the first draw hit the felt.

Both players took one card. Park check-raised when Wong bet. Wong three-bet and Park called. Both players stood pat after the first draw.

Park check-called another bet after each of the second and third pat draws. Wong turned over {7-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Hearts}, but Park showed {7-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} for a better badugi to take the pot.
