Ferketa's Aces Hold to Double Up

Niveau 2 : 100/200, 200 ante

Action was picked up with 13,000 already in the pot and a board of {j-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{q-Clubs}. The middle position player had bet 6,000 before Daniel Ferketa, in the cutoff, moved all in for about 11,000. His opponent thought for a minute or two, before making the call with Ferketa covered.

Daniel Ferketa: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}
Opponent: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}

With Ferketa ahead, the {7-Diamonds} turn changed nothing while the {a-Diamonds} river improved Ferketa's hand to a set. He scooped the pot and doubled his stack heading into the first break of the day.

Culot Takes it Down

Niveau 2 : 100/200, 200 ante

Philippe Culot fired for 500 from the cutoff, getting calls from the small blind, the big blind, and from the under-the-gun player.

The {3-Clubs}{2-Spades}{5-Hearts} flop was checked through before the small blind bet 1,100 on the {j-Hearts} turn. The big blind and the under-the-gun player got out of the way before Culot put in the call.

The {j-Spades} river elicited another barrel from the small blind, this time for 2,500. Culot made the call and turned over {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} for running trips. His opponent tossed his hand in the muck as Culot scooped the pot.

Lo with the Snow(men)

Niveau 2 : 100/200, 200 ante

On a heads-up board of {j-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{8-Hearts}, the under-the-gun player checked to his opponent in the hijack, Jeffrey Lo.

Lo then bet 3,600, which made his opponent ponder his next decision. After scoping out Lo and his chip stack, the under-the-gun player then raised all-in. Lo snap-called and flipped his cards over to reveal {8-Clubs}{8-Spades} for a turned set.

"Oh wow, nice hand," his opponent told Lo, as he tabled {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds} for two pair.

The river was the {6-Hearts} which meant Lo won the pot with his set of eights.

Action Table for Johns, Stoker, and Wheaton

Niveau 2 : 100/200, 200 ante

Ian Johns raised to 500 from the cutoff and Ryan Stoker defended his big blind.

The flop came {j-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{a-Spades}. Stoker check-called the 400 bet of Johns.

They both checked through the {7-Diamonds} on the turn to the {7-Hearts} on the river. Stoker bet 1,000 for Johns to make the call. Stoker tabled the {k-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} to play the board with the king-kicker but Johns had the {q-Clubs}{j-Hearts} for the higher two pair than on the board to claim the pot.

Tom Wheaton and Stoker then proceeded to say that the PokerNews team had missed all the action in the first five hands of the day. Wheaton had two sets with which he won once and also lost once to get him back to the starting stack.

While the story was told, the button limped in and Stoker opted to complete his small blind while Wheaton checked the big blind. They all checked through the whole board which ran out {q-Spades}{10-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. The button showed the {k-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} for a pair of sevens. Stoker then tabled the {10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for the higher pair of tens but Wheaton had them all beat with the {k-Spades}{10-Spades} for the same pair of tens but higher kicker.

Clark's Kings Hold

Niveau 2 : 100/200, 200 ante

A raise to 400 came from under the gun before Nakia Clark reraised to 1,200 from middle position. He got calls from the hijack and the under-the-gun player.

On the {8-Spades}{7-Clubs}{8-Hearts} flop, action checked to the hijack who fired for 1,600. The under-the-gun player folded before Clark put in the call.

The {9-Clubs} turn was checked through before Clark fired for 1,500 on the {5-Hearts} river. His opponent called. Clark turned over {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} for two pair, and his opponent promptly tossed his hand in the muck while Clark scooped the pot, getting his stack nearly back to where it started the day.

Manole Makes the Right Fold

Niveau 2 : 100/200, 200 ante

Chad Nieland had raised from the early position and Mihai Manole three-bet to 1,800 from the hijack. The action folded back to Nieland who made the call.

They both checked through the {10-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{10-Spades} flop to the {j-Diamonds} on the turn. Nieland fired a bet of 1,500 out which Manole called.

The river completed the board with the {j-Hearts} and Nieland continued with a bet of 2,200. Manole considered it for a bit but then folded. He did opt to show the {k-Hearts} for two pair. Nieland was friendly enough to show Manole had probably made the right fold as he held the {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} for the same two pair but with the ace-kicker.
