Alvarez Doubles Through Patni

Niveau 13 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

In a preflop raising contest, Michael Alvarez got his stack with 145,500 in against Kunal Patni and had the best of it in a battle of premium pocket pairs.

Michael Alvarez: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}
Kunal Patni: {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}

The board ran out {k-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} and the aces held for Alvarez to double. "I almost folded," Patni admitted in table chat with a dry smile on the face.

Shea Continues Impressive Day 2 Haul

Niveau 13 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Jack Shea opened from early position to 7,500 and was called by the small blind.

The flop came {5-Hearts}{k-Spades}{9-Clubs} and Shea continued for 6,000. The small blind called.

On the {3-Clubs} turn, Shea kept firing, this time for 17,000. The small blind called once more.

The river delivered the {q-Spades} and Shea went on the attack once again for 34,000. The small blind briefly considered before meekly tossing his cards into the muck.

Near Triple Up for Cajelais

Niveau 13 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Erik Cajelais at the 2021 WSOP
Erik Cajelais at the 2021 WSOP

With three players all-in, Adrian Buckley was the shortest stack and at risk against Erik Cajelais and Truong Nguyen, who had near identical stack sizes.

Adrian Buckley: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Erik Cajelais: {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}
Truong Nguyen: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}

The {10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{k-Spades}{8-Spades} board let Cajelais celebrate as his flopped set of nines secured a near triple-up. Buckley's 72,000 vanished and Cajelais doubled through Nguyen for 107,500 to leave his opponent very short.

Zarin Shows the Top Set

Niveau 13 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Three ways to the {k-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{5-Spades}{10-Clubs} turn, Kevin Palmer checked and Jonathan Zarin bet 11,000. Scott Ball was the only caller as Palmer folded. On the {3-Clubs} river, both players checked and Zarin rolled over the {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs} with a grin on the face.

"I think that'll win," another player at the table remarked and Ball indeed mucked his cards.

"I was thinking about min-betting the river," Zarin added but also mentioned that it was very difficult to get paid by anything in this spot.

Hajdari More Than Doubles in Three-Way All-In

Niveau 13 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

The cards were already on their backs with two players at risk against Scott Baumstein. Russell Sartin had flopped a pair and turned a flush draw with the {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts} but he was trailing against Fehim Hajdari with the {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}. Baumstein had the second best hand with {a-Hearts}{9-Spades} until the {a-Spades}{j-Spades}{2-Hearts}{7-Hearts} turn and didn't get there on the {3-Spades} river.

Sartin was eliminated while Hajdari doubled through Baumstein for 60,500.

Ahmadi Scores Early Elimination

Niveau 13 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

The hijack opened for 5,500 and Nick Ahmadi called from the button. The big blind shoved all in for 21,000 both the hijack and Ahmadi called.

The flop came {q-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{j-Hearts} and the button checked to Ahmadi, who put out a bet of 40,000. The button folded.

Big Blind: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}
Nick Ahmadi: {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

With the open-ended straight flush draw, Ahmadi would benefit from the {4-Hearts} turn, giving him the king-high flush to have his opponent drawing dead before the {j-Diamonds} completed the board.
