Ari Oxman Bags prend les devants, au moins 2 Français au Day 2

Niveau 10 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Ari Oxman
Ari Oxman

The players have bagged and headed home after Day 1 of Event #39: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 6-Handed. The event cumulated 719 entries, generating a prize pool of $1,919,730, though only 162 players advanced to Day 2, with Ari Oxman bagging the biggest stack with an impressive 753,000.

With $263,721 in total live earnings, Oxman will be looking to make the seventh WSOP cash of his career memorable. He is followed by Ajmera Anik, who bagged a hefty 661,500. The player from India will battle for his first WSOP cash ever and his first score on American soil.

With 162 players returning and only 108 set to make the money, some will be leaving empty-handed, while a min-cash worth $4,834. There is a decent chance the bubble will burst fast, but it is the $371,358 top prize and a prestigious gold bracelet that everyone will have their eye on.

There's never an easy path leading to the ultimate poker trophy, but this one might be particularly tough considering the stacked field. A bunch of notables and Pot-Limit Omaha experts are already in possession of large stacks in the likes of Krzysztof Magott (493,500), Benedikt Eberle (447,500), Jan-Peter Jachtmann (264,000) and Jeffrey Hakim (194,000).

The list of survivors still includes tons of familiar faces such as bracelet winners Matt Waxman (161,500), Joao Vieira (130,000), Alan Steinberg (75,000), Ayaz Mahmood (53,500) and Dash Dudley, two-time WSOP champion in Pot-Limit Omaha events, who will return in a short stack seat with 29,000.

Many notable players and bracelets winners took a shot in this event but didn’t find a bag at the end of the day, such as Ari Engel, Chino Rheem, three-time bracelet winners Chance Kornuth and Davidi Kitai, Shaun Deeb, Fabrice Soulier, Thomas Mccormick, Dragana Lim and recent winner of Event #33: $3,000 6-Handed No-Limit Hold'em Nino Ullmann.

Play resumes Monday, June 19th, at 1pm with 10 more levels of 60 minutes scheduled with a 15-minute break every two levels. There will be a one-hour dinner break after level 16 (around 7:30 p.m.).

The action was picked up in a pot of 82,500 on a flop of {j-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}. Ryan D'Angelo moved all in for 50,000 from the button after being checked to by his opponent in the big blind.

The big blind went deep into the tank for at least 5 minutes before the clock was called and the player had 30-seconds to act. He eventually flashed the table {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts} and mucked his hand on the last second of the countdown.

"Will you tell me later what you had", said the big blind as D'Angelo stacked his chips and nodded to confirm he would.

Frank Kassela raised on the button and both Ayaz Mahmood in the small blind and the big blind called.

The dealer fanned a flop {a-Spades}{9-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and Mahmood checked to the big blind who bet 5,000. Kassela quickly called and Mahmood let it go. The turn brought the {8-Spades} and went check-check.

The {8-Hearts} paired the board on the river and the big blind bet 5,000. Kassela responded by raising it to 15,000 and after some thinking, the big blind called. Kassela tabled {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{6-Spades} for the full house and scooped the pot as his opponent mucked.

Kassela, who busted two players in the same hand a few minutes earlier, has now climbed to a stack above 400,000 chips.

Tong Li: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{q-Spades}{2-Clubs}
