Vogelsang Loses a Flip

Niveau 14 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Christoph Vogelsang
Christoph Vogelsang

Christoph Vogelsang raised to 380,000 from under the gun. Sam Soverel called in the hijack before Jason Koon three-bet to 1,100,000 from the big blind. Soverel folded.

Christoph Vogelsang: {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}
Jason Koon: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

"Fuck," said Soverel as the cards were turned over.

The {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}{5-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} board gave Koon trips and he sent Vogelsang to the rail just before the break.

Hecklen Snaps Off Aldemir

Niveau 14 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Both Henrik Hecklen and Koray Aldemir checked the {k-Hearts}{2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{a-Spades} turn with 700,000 chips in the middle.

Hecklen bet 200,000 and Aldemir eventually raised to 700,000. Hecklen snap-called.

Aldemir tabled {a-Hearts}{5-Spades} for aces up, but Hecklen had flopped trip deuces with {q-Hearts}{2-Hearts}. The river was a brick and Aldemir was sent to the rail.

Zack Moves to the Lead

Niveau 14 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Koray Aldemir opened to 125,000 from under the gun and Dan Zack re-raised to 525,000 out of the big blind. Aldemir called and the dealer fanned the flop of {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}{6-Spades}. Zack led out with a bet of 380,000 and Aldemir called.

The turn brought the {q-Hearts} and Zack counted out a bet of 900,000. Aldemir still called and the {2-Clubs} completed the board. Zack used two of his time banks before sliding out a bet of 1,000,000. Aldemir also used a time bank and then called. Zack flipped over {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} for two pair and Aldemir mucked his cards.

Petrangelo Flops a Set in Multi-Way Pot

Niveau 14 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Aleksejs Ponakovs raised to 130,000 in the hijack and was called by Nick Petrangelo on the button and Stanley Tang in the big blind. The flop came {k-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{2-Spades} and the action checked to Petrangelo who bet 120,000. Tang called and Ponakovs stepped aside.

The turn was the {3-Spades} and Tang checked again. Petrangelo sized up a bet of 550,000 and Tang still called. The {j-Spades} completed the board and both players knuckled the table. Tang showed {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} but Petrangelo held {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} for a set of nines to win the pot.

Lehne Eliminated by Petrangelo

Kathy Lehne
Kathy Lehne

Nick Petrangelo raised to 130,000 from under the gun. Kathy Lehne called in the hijack.

Action folded to Aleksejs Ponakovs in the small blind who gestured to his hand. The problem? He only had one card. Cary Katz was in the big blind...with three cards.

The floor was called and both Ponakovs and Katz's hands were declared dead.

The flop came {j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and Petrangelo checked across to Lehne who bet 200,000. Petrangelo check-raised to 600,000. Lehne shoved for around 1,500,000 and Petrangelo called.

Kathy Lehne: {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Nick Petrangelo: {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

The turn {4-Diamonds} and river {a-Clubs} changed nothing and Lehne was eliminated.

"I've never seen that happen before," said Katz, referring to the pre-flop hand killing.

"I have a dream about that all the time," said Petrangelo. "Where I look down on the turn and I have three cards."

"I have the exact same dream," added tablemate Alex Foxen.

Zack Wins at Showdown, Without Showing

Niveau 14 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Henrik Hecklen raised to 130,000 in the hijack and was called by Dan Zack on the button, along with Koray Aldemir and David Einhorn in the blinds. They went four ways to the flop of {k-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{4-Spades}.

Hecklen continued with a bet of 140,000 which both Zack and Einhorn called. The {j-Hearts} landed on the turn and the action checked around to the {j-Diamonds} on the river. Einhorn led out with a bet of 350,000 which got a quick fold from Hecklen and an even quicker call from Zack.

Einhorn just conceded the pot by flinging his cards to the muck and Zack was awarded the pot without having to show his cards.

Floor Rules Foul Hand

Niveau 14 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Action folded to Alex Foxen on the button who raised to 135,000. Kathy Lehen folded her small blind and Martin Kabrhel was in the big blind.

As Lehne folded, Cary Katz interjected. Before the hand was dealt, Stanley Tang had been moved to a neighbouring table in an effort to balance the tournament. However, as Katz pointed out, the tables had not needed balancing.

After Tang was moved, Katz's table was six-handed, with Tang moving to a now seven-handed table. With 20 players remaining the tables were adequately balanced, with two tables having seven players and one having six.

The floor was called and after a short conversation, which involved the floor apologizing to Foxen for the mistake on their part, the hand was ruled foul. Tang then returned to the table in order to play his big blind.

Retired NBA Star Paul Pierce Allegedly Won't Pay His Poker Debts

Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce owes a poker home game host $180,000, according to a lawsuit filed, but is allegedly refusing to pay it back.

Stephen Carmona, per TMZ Sports, claims he hosted a private game at his house on January 27 and invited the NBA Hall of Famer, who is an avid but recreational poker player. He apparently gave Pierce a $150,000 loan to enter the high-stakes game with the promise of paying it back within seven days.

The lawsuit states that the retired basketball star only returned $10,000 of that money and then borrowed another $40,000 from Carmona to compete in a different game, but allegedly hasn't paid back any of that either. Pierce reportedly made around $200 million in salary and endorsement deals during his 17-year NBA career.
