Jaffe Rivers Flush vs. Zinno's Top Set, Clinches Quarterfinal Place

Niveau 14 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante
Jonathan Jaffe
Jonathan Jaffe

Jonathan Jaffe has become the first player to clinch a place in the quarterfinals after eliminating Anthony Zinno.

Zinno opened the action to 8,000 and Jaffe threw in a three-bet to 30,000. Zinno popped it up to 71,000 and Jaffe called.

The flop came {5-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{k-Spades}. After Jaffe's check, Zinno took about 30 seconds before tapping the table himself.

With the {a-Spades} on the turn, Jaffe checked once more and Zinno opted to put out a bet to 75,000. Jaffe called and they were off to the river.

The {6-Spades} completed the board and after Jaffe's check, Zinno fired for 250,000 of his remaining 355,000 chips. After about a minute, Jaffe went all in. Zinno was visibly not a fan of Jaffe's shove but was resigned to calling and showing his {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}.

Jaffe showed his {j-Spades}{10-Spades} and took home the win.

Rabichow Flushes Out Ivey

Phil Ivey opened to 10,000 on the button and Kevin Rabichow made it 36,000 in the big blind. Ivey called and the dealer fanned the flop of {q-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{3-Clubs}. Both players checked and the {8-Clubs} landed on the turn.

Rabichow led out with a bet of 27,000 and Ivey stuck around to see the {9-Spades} on the river. Rabichow checked this time and Ivey splashed in a bet of 75,000. Rabichow check-raised all in, putting Ivey to the test for his remaining 300,000 chips.

Ivey leaned back in his chair and tried to study his opponent for nearly seven minutes. Eventually a muttered "call" came out of Ivey's mouth and Rabichow turned over {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs} for a flush. Ivey took his cards and mixed them in with the muck as he headed for the exit.

In a three-bet pot with 112,000 in the middle, the dealer fanned the flop of {6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}. John Smith led out with a bet of 50,000 and Dylan Destefano shoved all in. Smith called off the last of his 180,000 chips and the cards were tabled.

John Smith: {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}
Dylan Destefano: {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

The {7-Spades} on the turn gave Destefano the best hand with a pair of sevens and the {5-Hearts} on the river improved him to a straight which eliminated Smith from the tournament.

Patrick Kennedy: {a-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}

"Good luck," Kennedy said before the cards came out. He wished the wrong person luck though as Kornuth took the lead on the {j-Spades}{7-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop. The {4-Diamonds} and {3-Diamonds} runout changed nothing and Kornuth eliminated Kennedy.

Christoph Vogelsang

Christoph Vogelsang has won his all-German affair against Koray Aldemir and will face Sean Winter in the quarterfinals.

Aldemir had four big blinds behind when Vogelsang shoved. Aldemir put his final 200,000 chips in the middle with {q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}. Vogelsang turned over {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}.

The {j-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop was little help for the defending WSOP Main Event Champion but he picked up a gutshot straight draw when the {4-Hearts} came on the turn.

The {4-Spades} sealed his fate, giving Vogelsang the win.

Round 4 - Blinds: 5,000/10,000

Dylan DeStefano raised to 25,000 and Kevin Rabichow called.

The dealer spread the {9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop and Rabichow check-called for 40,000.

On the {5-Diamonds} turn, Rabichow check-raised a bet of 100,000 up to 335,000. DeStefano called.

The {2-Clubs} completed the board, Rabichow checked, DeStefano moved all in, and Rabichow quickly called for his 735,000 chips.

DeStefano tabled {4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for trips, but it was no good against the {7-Hearts}{6-Clubs} straight, and Rabichow scooped the massive pot and a huge chip lead.

Round 4 - Blinds: 6,000/12,000

Dylan Destefano was down to just 110,000, less than 10 big blinds to start the hand. Kevin Rabichow announced all in on the button and Destefano called it off.

Dylan Destefano: {k-Clubs}{6-Spades}
Kevin Rabichow: {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

The flop fell {q-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} which provided no help to Destefano. The {3-Spades} on the turn changed nothing and the {7-Spades} on the river brought a quick end to the match, sending Rabichow into the semifinals tomorrow.
