Kornuth Bluffs Into Hughes

Niveau 12 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Chance Kornuth
Chance Kornuth

Chance Kornuth was out of position in a heads-up pot against Ryan Hughes on a board of {9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}.

The river brought the {9-Clubs} and Kornuth asked for a count of the pot as he stacked up chips. Always on the hunt for live tells, Kornuth's eyes darted back and forth between his chips and his opponent as he counted out a bet of 108,500.

Kornuth put out the bet and his opponent snap-called.

"You've got it," Kornuth said before Hughes showed {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{6-Hearts} to scoop the pot with a straight.

Laplante Flops Ace-High Flush, Gets Paid

Ryan Laplante
Ryan Laplante

The pot had swelled to around 50,000 on the {9-Spades}{5-Spades}{7-Spades}{10-Clubs}{k-Clubs} river and Ryan Laplante put out a pot-sized bet.

Joshua Faris deliberated for around two minutes before finally making the call.

Laplante flipped over {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{2-Clubs} for the ace-high flush, though saying he had the nuts.

Afterwards, his tablemates jokingly reminded him that he, in fact, did not have the nuts.

Hastings Scoops a Pot

Niveau 12 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Matt Glantz limped in from the button and Joao Vieira called in the small blind before Brian Hastings raised in the big blind. Both opponents called.

The flop of {7-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{a-Hearts} checked through and the same action took place on the {9-Hearts} turn. The river brought the {2-Spades} and all three players once again checked.

Hastings showed {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} to win the pot with aces up.

Kessler Breaks the PokerNews Curse

Niveau 13 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Allen Kessler
Allen Kessler

In the "craziest hand" Allen Kessler has seen today, Sterling Savill opened to 8,000 in early position and Michael Trivett and the button both called. Kessler then three-bet shoved from the big blind and Savill four-bet re-shoved behind him. Trivett also moved all in and the button went in the tank before folding.

Allen Kessler: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}
Michael Trivett: {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts}
Sterling Savill: {a-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Clubs}

The flop came {j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} to give Kessler a big lead with a king-high flush.

"Who has diamonds?" asked Kessler.

"You do!" someone at the table replied.

The runout of {q-Hearts}{4-Spades} secured the main pot for Kessler for a triple-up, while Savill improved to a pair of fours to win the side pot and eliminate Trivett.

Hughes Continues Dominant Performance

Niveau 13 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Ryan Hughes
Ryan Hughes

Ryan Hughes, David Benyamine, and Joshua Faris were in a three-way all in on a {4-Spades}{9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{q-Hearts} board.

David Benyamine: {a-}{10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}
Joshua Faris: {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}
Ryan Hughes: {j-Hearts}{10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{2-Spades}

Hughes would win the high with the nut straight while Benyamine and Faris were quartered, having to chop the nut low.

Hughes, who came into the day as the chip leader, is now flirting with the million-chip mark.
