Three Quarters With Mighty Deuces for Glantz

Niveau 24 : 25,000/50,000, 0 ante
Matt Glantz
Matt Glantz

In one of the first hands coming back from the break, John Cernuto was knocked out by Joey Couden. One hand later, Matt Glantz raised and then called a three-bet by Logan Hatch. The {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{8-Spades} flop was checked by Glantz, who then called a continuation bet. Both checked the {7-Clubs} turn which Glantz took as a good sign according to the table chat.

When the {6-Clubs} fell on the river, Glantz joked "I might have a straight flush" right before he bet. Hatch called with the {a-Spades}{k-Spades}{j-Spades}{2-Diamonds} for the nut low and won just a quarter, as Glantz won most of the pot with {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{2-Spades} and a "deuces for the gin".

Break After Level 23

Niveau 23 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante

Only around 60 players remain as another two-hour session at the tables has come to an end. Another three levels are scheduled for tonight in this three-day tournament.

Stepaniuk Eliminated by Pine

Niveau 23 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante

In the last hand before the break, Jeffery Stepaniuk flopped trips on {10-Clubs}{7-Spades}{7-Diamonds} and yet was down to a single out when he got it in against Travis Pine.

Jeffery Stepaniuk: {j-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{4-Spades}
Travis Pine: {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{3-Spades}

The {6-Diamonds} turn provided some potential outs for a low but the {q-Clubs} river changed nothing anymore to eliminate Stepaniuk.

Logue Takes From Verner

Niveau 23 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante

After defending the big blind and investing half a bet on the {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{7-Spades} flop and a full bet on the {2-Clubs} turn, Christopher Logue in the big blind bet the {j-Spades} river. Hoyt Verner on the button was his sole remaining opponent and went into the tank for almost a minute before he opted to fold.

Logue and Verner hold decent stack sizes and they are only topped on the same table by Andrew Brown, who appears to be among the current chip leaders.

Law Scoops Beasley

Niveau 23 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante

Rami Boukai raised and Van Law called from two seats over, Shennel Beasley then defended the big blind. On the {k-Spades}{j-Clubs}{6-Spades} flop, Beasley bet, Boukai folded and law raised for Beasley to call. The {q-Hearts} fell on the turn and Beasley check-called a bet. Both opted to check the {5-Clubs} river on which Law announced two pair.

"Two pair is good, I missed the flush," Beasley replied and mucked her cards once Law turned over the {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{j-Spades}{3-Diamonds} for kings and jacks.

Beasley had three full big bets behind after the hand and was knocked out by Carol Fuchs shortly thereafter, leaving the table with a smile on the face and "this is fun, I might come back" after she had just cashed in her first WSOP tournament.

No Scoops But Some More Profit

Niveau 23 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante

Carol Fuchs earned half the pot with a full house on the {4-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{3-Spades} board when her {a-Spades}{q-Spades}{9-Spades}{3-Hearts} in the cutoff won the high portion. Bartholomew Randolph with the {a-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{5-Spades}{5-Hearts} had flopped a wheel but only earned half the low as Vitaliy Mikhov tabled the {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for the same straight.

One hand later, Shennel Beasley was all-in for 80,000 preflop and earned multiple callers including Eddie Blumenthal and Ron Lane. It would end in another split pot but Beasley earned three quarters of the pot on a {9-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{6-Spades} runout with the {a-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Spades}. Blumenthal with the {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades} won a quarter of the main pot as the {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{7-Spades}{2-Diamonds} of Ron Lane for a straight was only good for half of the side pot.

Beasley then lost some chips in yet another three-way hand in which Lane and Fuchs earned the slices of the pot.

Logue Rivers Flush

Niveau 23 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante

Christopher Logue and David Arsht went heads-up preflop with Arsht raising his big blind option and Logue calling on the button.

{j-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{10-Spades} showed up on the flop and Arsht check raised Logue and received a call.

A {6-Hearts} came on the turn and Arsht went all in with his remaining chips to which Logue called. Cards were flipped:

David Arsht: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{6-Clubs}
Christopher Logue: {5-Spades}{5-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Hearts}

Arsht flopped Broadway and Logue was behind with a pair of fives and a flush draw.

"I need a heart!" Logue exclaimed as the river was flipped.

His calls for help were answered with a {4-Hearts} showing up on the river to complete his draw and win the pot. Arsht exited the tournament midway through Level 23.

Mikhov and Law Let the Fox Out

Niveau 23 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante

George Fox was already all-in and awaiting his fate when the completed board of {k-Clubs}{j-Spades}{4-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{6-Spades} was checked down by Van Law and Vitaliy Mikhov. Law tabled the {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{3-Hearts} for a missed gutshot that improved to the second nut low. Fox turned over his {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} for jacks and sixes but ended up on the rail when Mikhov exposed {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} for a set of fours.
