Day 1a of Event #75: $777 Lucky 7's No-Limit Hold'em at the 2022 World Series of Poker Bally's and Paris Las Vegas has wrapped up after 22 levels of play with just 44 players remaining. Sitting with the top stack is Calvin Anderson, bagging 2,280,000, looking to claim his third WSOP Gold Bracelet.

Anderson claimed his second bracelet back in 2018 when he took down the $10,000 Razz championship for $309,220 and is fresh off his third-place finish in Event #73: $1,500 Razz earning $49,557.

Joining Anderson on Day 2 as a top-stack from Day 1a is Phong Than Nguyen, bagging an impressive 2,000,000 in chips. Nguyen has also had quite the success recently, finishing in sixth place in Event #43: $500 Freezeout No-Limit Holdem at the 2022 World Series of Poker, earning $48,299.

Day 1a had a total of 1,056 runners with only 159 places being paid. Some players to enter the day but not quite make it into the money include WSOP Main Event Champion Greg Raymer, Kevin Song, Lexy Gavin, Conrad Simpson and David Moses.

Many notables did find a bag at the end of the night though including, four-time WSOP bracelet winner Ben Yu (1,330,000), bracelet winners Jason Wheeler (640,000), Andrew Barber (580,000), and five-time bracelet winner Allen Cunningham (160,000).

There are two more flights for this event and players who have already cashed but didn't find a bag are permitted to try again. Day 1b will be on July 11th at 12:00 p.m. Followed by Day 1c on July 12th at 12:00 p.m. and all three flights will combine for Day 2 on Wednesday, July 13th at 12:00 p.m.

Ben Yu went up against a stronger hand while at risk, but the odds worked in his favor.

Facing a small raise to 65,000 from the lojack, Ben Yu went all in with 710,000 and got a call from the small blind. Everyone else folded and they watched the board unfold.

The flop gave Yu a flush draw with {5-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Spades}, and after the {5-Clubs} came outon the turn, the {8-Spades} was delivered to the river, allowing Yu to beat his opponent.

With 10 minutes remaining on the clock the tournament director has announced final three hands of the night before the players bag for Day 2 on Wednesday at 12:00 p.m.

Meadows Takes One on the Flop

James Meadows raised to 65,000 and Robert Hall called in the cutoff before Mike Chau defended the big blind.

The dealer spread a flop of {k-Spades}{j-Spades}{10-Hearts} and Chau checked to Meadows who continued for 100,000. Hall quickly mucked and Chau thought about it for a couple of seconds before passing his cards to the dealer.

Weis Delivers Blow to Opponent on River

Pre-flop, the cutoff open min-raised to 50,000 and Felix Weis, on the button, shoved all in for 430,000. It was a firm fold for everyone else and the opponent quickly called.

The flop came out all clubs with {8-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}.

The turn was a {6-Spades} and the {q-Spades} was delivered to the river, giving Weiss the higher pair he needed to knock out his opponent.
