Jaka Gets Paid on the River

Niveau 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

A completed board of {10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{a-Spades}{q-Spades} was spread across the felt with around 25,000 in the middle. The action was on Faraz Jaka on the button who threw in an over-bet of 30,000. His opponent, Kyle Merron went into the tank for nearly three minutes.

After thinking it through, Merron eventually flicked in a call. Jaka flipped over {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs} for two pair and Merron dumped his cards into the muck.

Three-Way Pot for Syssau

Niveau 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

A player opened to 2,500 and Sebastien Syssau three-bet next to him to 6,200. It folded to Ryuji Aoki in the big blind who tanked for a minute before calling, followed by the initial player.

A paired flop {2-Spades}{3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} came and it got checked to Syssau who sent 10,000 into the pot. It was enough to make his opponent fold and take the pot right away. Syssay revealed he had {a-}{a-}.

Antonius Drops Chips to Superior Two Pair

Niveau 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

An under-the-gun player opened to 2,300, Patrik Antonius called in early position, and Larry Wright called in the hijack.

The dealer spread the {j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{8-Hearts} flop and action checked to Antonius who bet 6,000. Wright raised to 16,000, the under-the-gun player folded, and Antonius called. Both players checked the {7-Clubs} turn and {a-Diamonds} river.

Antonius flipped over {j-Clubs}{8-Clubs}, but it was no good against Wright's {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for a flopped superior two pair.

Both players checked the {3-Hearts} turn before Karidis led out for 9,000 on the {4-Diamonds} river. Park quickly called as Karidis showed {a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a straight to win the pot.

Phil Hellmuth Entrance
Phil Hellmuth Entrance

Phil Hellmuth made his initial appearance in the 2022 World Series of Poker Main Event much like in year's past — decked out in a costume. But his arrival on Thursday wasn't met with the usual excitement from the crowd, nor was his entrance as extravagant as in previous years.

The "Poker Brat" showed up for the Day 2abc session in a Darth Vader costume, and few cheered while a number of players inside the Bally's ballroom booed. Most seemed disinterested in the spectacle.

Elharar Gets a Fold from Paredes

Niveau 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Rafi Elharar opened to 2,300 and got called by Jason Somerville and Alex Paredes in the hijack three-bet to 7,500. Both Elharar and Somerville called.

The flop fanned {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{j-Clubs} and the three players checked to see the {10-Diamonds} on the turn. Elharar led out for 8,500 and only Paredes stayed in the hand.

The river fell the {9-Diamonds} and Elharar tanked for some time before sending 23,000 in the middle. Paredes ended up folding his hand.
