Johnson Clicks It Back

Niveau 15

Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better

Marco Johnson opened on the button and was called by Phil Ivey in the big blind.

Ivey checked and then called after Johnson continued on a flop of QAQ.

The K turn saw Ivey take over the betting lead only for Johnson to respond with a raise. That raise was met by a swift fold from Ivey who did not seem too pleased with how the hand had progressed.

Becker Doubles Through Obst

Johannes Becker
Johannes Becker

No-Limit Hold'em

James Obst raised to 40,000 out of the small blind and was called by Johannes Becker in the big blind. Both checked the 1098 flop and Obst checked the 4 turn. Becker now bet 45,000 only for Obst to check-raise to 160,000, which Becker called after a few seconds of consideration.

The A fell on the river and Obst almost immediately announced the all-in, sending Becker into agony. He counted the 575,000 behind and dropped a single chip in for the call after around one minute.

Becker already exposed his J10 for a pair of tens and Obst flung his cards towards the muck.

"Sorry, I have to see them," Becker said and other players also pointed out that the cards had to be shown according to the showdown roles. The K5 of Obst were briefly exposed before he paid off the double to Becker.

Racener Doubles Through Arieh

John Racener

Pot-Limit Omaha

After John Racener opened to 40,000 in the hijack, Josh Arieh was in the small blind where he asked Racener, "like 600?" referring to Racener's remaining chip stack.

"530," replied Racener, before Arieh made the call, as did Dzmitry Urbanovich in the big blind.

The flop came 6A2, and after checks from Arieh and Urbanovich, Racener bet 50,000. Arieh then check-raised to 250,000 which got a fold from Urbanovich, but Racener then moved all in for what was actually 515,000 and Arieh called to put Racener at risk.

John Racener: AAQ10
Josh Arieh: KQ65

Racener's top set was up against Arieh's flush draw. Arieh picked up more outs on the 3 turn, giving him a straight draw, but it also gave Racener an added flush draw too.

The river 2 filled up Racener to give him the double up and take a chunk out of Arieh's sizeable stack.

Ivey Leaves Hellmuth on Fumes

Niveau 15
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Omaha Hi-Lo

Phil Hellmuth defended the big blind against a button raise by Phil Ivey and then stuck around all the way on the 97489 runout, check-calling all the way. Hellmuth's AQ73 were the second nut low with nines and sevens. He only earned one quarter of the pot, as Ivey had the AK93 for trips nines and the same low.

That loss left Hellmuth rambling with a small rail gathered right behind him in the Horseshoe Event Center.

Hal Rotholz raised on the button and got a call from Josh Arieh in the big blind.

On the AJ4 flop, the players checked to the 6 turn. Arieh checked and then Rotholz peeked at one of his cards and bet.

Arieh then check-raised, and with action back on Rotholz, he now peeked at his other card and then raised again.

Arieh called, and on the 3 river, he checked and then faced another bet from Rotholz. Arieh opted to fold his hand at this point to send the pot across the table.
