Ryan Riess
Ryan Riess

Short-stacked throughout the final hour, Ryan Riess saw action fold to him in the small blind and he committed his final chips with Kx5x. Yoshinori Funayama called with Ax10x in the big blind and held up to eliminate the 2013 Main Event champion.

Borella Knocks Out Two with One Blow

Niveau 26 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Rudy Cervantes moved all in from early position, and Steven Borella called. But action wasn’t finished, as Frank Zheng came over the top by also moving all in.

Borella, who had both players covered, thought about the action around before making the call to put both his opponents at risk.

Frank Zheng: JJ All in
Rudy Cervantes: 1010 All in
Steven Borella: 22

Borella found himself way behind, but the table let out an audible stunned gasp after the dealer fanned KA2 on the flop. The K gave Borella a full house, and the 3 on the river sent Zheng and Cervantes packing.

Thanh Hoa Chips Up With Knockout

Niveau 26 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Action showed a large pot even before the dealer fanned cards on the board.

Yves Kupfermunz then announced an all-in bet, which prompted Thanh Hoa to ask for a count. The dealer announced 710,000 and Hoa called.

Yves Kupfermunz: 99 All in
Thanh Hoa: AQ

Hoa took the lead when the dealer fanned 6A4 on the flop. The 4 on the turn and 5 on the river secured Hoa the win – and a rather large pot – to send a disappointed Kupfermunz to the rail.

"DNegs" Loses a Little

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu was in a hand with Addam Smith with the board reading A92. Negreanu check-called a bet of 175,000 before both players checked the K on the turn.

The river was the J and Negreanu fired a tiny bet of 50,000. Smith appeared somewhat confused before flicking in the calling chips.

Negreanu tabled A5 but Smith revealed AJ for the better hand.

"You win!" Negreanu pipped. "Had the flush draw too," he added. Despite the minor setback, Negreanu is firmly in command with 75 players left.
