Day 1b of Event #20: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em MILLIONAIRE MAKER is done. Today there were 4,323 entries, which makes the total amount of entries for this event 7,761. The day wrapped up with 678 players who will return for Day 2 tomorrow, together with the survivors from Day 1a.

The end-of-day chip leader is Brian Altman (227,800), but he has other big stacks behind him, including Billy Graybeal (209,200), Scott Skirba (207,500), Adam White (182,000), David Peters (173,200), Dustin Fox (168,600), and Kenny Hallaert (148,500). Recent bracelet winners David Pham (68,500) and John Racener (32,100) have also gone through to tomorrow.

More notable names that will be returning for Day 2 include Antonio Esfandiari (73,900), Joe Elpayaa (91,800), Dan O’Brien (65,300), Ravi Raghavan (108,000), Tristan Wade (19,400), Darryll Fish (63,600), Jeff Gross (9,000), Dutch Boyd (68,500), Johanssy Joseph (62,000), Matt Waxman (46,600), and Jake Bazeley (108,600).

They and the rest of the players will all be competing for a total prize pool of $10,477,350, and a min-cash tomorrow will earn a player $2,249. Everyone will be gunning for that first prize of $1,221,407 and the gold WSOP bracelet, though.

The final 1,187 players will come together tomorrow for Day 2 starting at 11 a.m. As only 1,165 of them will finish in the money, the bubble will probably burst soon after play has started, so make sure to keep your eyes on PokerNews.

Brian Altman Takes Late-Night Chip Lead

Niveau 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Brian Altman has been chipping up quickly in the late levels of the night, including in these two hands just witnessed.

In the first hand, with the board reading {A-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{K-Spades}, the big blind checked, and Altman bet 8,000 in late position, enough to put his opponent all in. His opponent called, and Altman showed him the bad news: {A-Spades}{8-Spades} for the nut flush.

The next hand, heads-up again, the flop was {Q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}, and Altman's opponent in the big blind checked. Altman bet 3,500 in middle position, and his opponent check-raised to 8,500. Altman called, and they both checked the {10-Hearts} turn. The river was the {9-Clubs}, and the big blind checked. Altman bet 18,000, about half his opponent's stack, and his opponent tank-called.

Altman had the goods again — this time, it was {Q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for nines full of queens to win that pot, too. He took the chip lead with those two pots and is the only player over 200,000 for the moment.

Matt Berkey's Two Pair Good

Niveau 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

A player in middle position raised to 2,200, Matt Berkey called in the small blind, and Aaron Johnson came along in the big blind.

The flop came {8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{2-Clubs}, and it checked to the preflop raiser, who bet 3,800. Berkey called, and Johnson folded. On the {5-Clubs} turn, both players checked, and the river was the {7-Diamonds}. Berkey checked, and his opponent checked back.

Berkey tabled {10-Spades}{8-Spades} for two pair, eights and fives, to win the pot.
