La nuit de samedi à dimanche a tenu les passionnés de poker en haleine avec la conclusion de l'Event #30 H.O.R.S.E. Championship à 10.000$ l'entrée. David Bach a brisé le rêve des fans de Daniel Negreanu et Jason Mercier en remportant le 3e bracelet WSOP de sa carrière et le premier prix de 383,208$. Tenant du titre, Mercier rate le doublé, Negreanu devra attendre sa 7e breloque.

Ils étaient encore 15 en piste à la reprise et tous les yeux étaient tournés vers le chipleader, deux fois vainqueur du classement POY WSOP, Daniel Negreanu. Déjà 2e et 3e d'un WSOP cet été, le Canadien ne visait que la victoire. Il fallait arracher le trophée des mains de Jason Mercier, en piste pour réussir un exploit déjà réalisé par Layne Flack et Tuan Le.

Phillip Wallace a été le premier à rendre les armes tandis qu'Anthony Zinno, brièvement tombé à 35 000 jetons, entamait lui un comeback de folie. Mark Gregorich, Mack Lee, Scott Bohlman, Brian Rast et Richard Chase rataient eux aussi la Table Finale. Toujours en tête, Negreanu voyait alors Don Zewin et Mercier se joindre à lui dans le club des joueurs au dessus du million de jetons.

Zinno s'incline finalement en 9e position, vite rejoint dans le rail par Jerry Wong et Yuebin Guo. Eric Rodawig a ensuite tiré son épingle du jeu pour s'emparer de la tête du tournoi. C'est finalement Negreanu qui va craquer le premier dans cette partie disputée en 6-handed. Le Canadien s'incline face à Rodawig en Omaha hi-lo, laissant les Américains s'expliquer entre eux pour le titre.

Pas au mieux depuis plusieurs orbites, Jason Mercier voit lui son parcours s'arrêter en razz, éliminé par Andrew Brown qui détenait alors la moitié des chips en circulation. Eric Rodawig va partir au combat et disputer de nombreuses mains contre Brown. Déjà vainqueur WSOP, ce dernier va perdre des plumes avant de disputer une main énorme contre David Bach en Omaha Hi-Lo.

David Bach s'empare alors de la tête du classement provisoire et de presque la moitié des jetons. Déjà 3e de ce tournoi en 2015, Don Zewin va encore finir à la même place quelques orbites plus tard, éliminé par Rodawig qui se porte légèrement en tête pour débuter le dernier duel.

En piste pour son second bracelet et soutenu par Matthew Ashton, Brandon Shack-Harris ou encore Chris George Rodawig va perdre pot après pot. En pleine confiance après sa victoire il y a une semaine sur l'Event #11 Dealers Choice à 1500$ (pour 119,399$), David Bach va vite creuser l'écart pour finir en Omaha Hi-Lo avec {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{8-Spades} sur un board {Q-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{A-Clubs}. Muni de {J-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{3-Spades} Rodawig attend encore un trèfle ou le dernier {9-} pour se sauver !

"Je joue pas mal et je suis dans un bon cycle, ma fierté c'est de pouvoir jouer contre n'importe qui", a raconté le triple vainqueur WSOP après sa victoire. Vainqueur du H.O.R.S.E. World Championship à 50.000$ l'entrée en 2008 (pour 1,2 million de dollars), David Bach dépasse désormais la barre des 4 millions de gains en carrière...
