Ross Survives

Niveau 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

We found Mike Ross with his last 3,500 going into the middle on fourth street against Henry Hull and Gregory Jamison. Jamison picked up a pair of eights on fifth street and bet the last three streets in the side pot.

Hull: {x-}{x-}/{k-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{7-Clubs}{q-Hearts}/{x-}
Jamison: {x-}{x-}/{8-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{8-Spades}{4-Clubs}/{x-}
Ross: {x-}{x-}/{3-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{2-Spades}{4-Hearts}/{x-}

Ross picked up four to a wheel and looked likely to survive, if not scoop. When Jamison's last bet was called, Ross showed {6-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{7-Hearts} for a straight and a six-low, but Jamison had {8-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{2-Hearts} for eights full.

Mammon Hits a Wheel to Survive

Niveau 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Joshua Mammon had the {4-Diamonds} and was all in for about 9,000, facing Ian Shaw with the {A-Diamonds}.

Shaw had kings in the hole while Mammon had ace-deuce for three low cards. Shaw spiked another ace on fourth for aces and kings, but Mammon found the help he needed as he hit a five and a three on his board to complete a wheel. Shaw couldn't recover for the high part of the pot as his hand failed to improve into a full house.

Mammon: {A-Spades}{2-Clubs} / {4-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-} / {10-}
Shaw: {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} / {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{5-} / {9-}

Bohn Scoops Mizrachi

Niveau 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Michael Mizrachi had the betting lead against Ernest Bohn with three to a wheel on fifth and fired all of the big bet streets. Bohn called him all the way down.

Mizrachi: {x-}{x-}/{3-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{8-Spades}/{x-}
Bohn: {x-}{x-}/{6-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{a-Spades}/{x-}

Mizrachi announced two pairs and showed {8-Hearts}{4-Spades} along with {k-Hearts}, but Bohn had a straight to the ten with {q-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{9-Spades}.

The Legend of Ted Forrest

Niveau 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Ted Forrest
Ted Forrest

Ted Forrest has been decorated with a WSOP bracelet more times than any other player in the remaining field. And it's a very talented field.

Forrest won three bracelets in 1993, added two more in 2004, and one in 2014. He's now looking to tie Billy Baxter and Men Nguyen with seven.

With his last 5,400 behind and his tournament life on the line at the beginning of the last level, Forrest scored a double to get back in contention. Now he's maneuvering about 95,000.

Forrest has two bracelets from seven-card stud and two from razz, but he's yet to earn one from the split-pot stud game. Experienced more than anyone, Forrest must certainly be considered as one of the favorites.

Couden Doubles Through Holley

Niveau 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

John Holley and Joseph Couden got all the money in with the latter at risk on fifth street.

Holley: {8-Hearts}{3-Spades}/{4-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}
Couden: {8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}/{7-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}

Couden was in good shape with a pair, four to a low, and a four-flush. Holley snagged a useless {9-Clubs} but then pulled a {4-Clubs} to make fours up. Couden had a {q-Hearts} on sixth and therefore needed improvement on seventh. He showed a {q-Spades} for better two pairs and a scoop.

"You didn't want to bust me yet," he said.

Morozovs Eliminated by Stann and Iacofano

Niveau 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Kevin Iacofano completed with the {3-Diamonds}, Mihail Morozovs made it two bets with a {3-Clubs}, and Dave Stann put in another raise with the {j-Spades}. Iacofano called, Morozovs fired in four bets, and everyone called, then Morozovs got the last 500 in on fourth.

Iacofano: {x-}{x-}/{3-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{6-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Morozovs: {x-}{x-}/{3-Clubs}{9-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Stann: {x-}{x-}/{j-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

Iacofano caught good and was the aggressor on fourth and fifth, but both he and Stann checked sixth. Iacofano bet the end and Stann called.

Iacofano showed {4-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{6-Hearts} for sixes and a six-low. Morozovs had jacks and sevens with {7-}{7-} in the hole, but Stann had {k-}{j-}{8-} for jacks and eights on the high side to leave Morozovs busted.

Madsen Crosses 100,000

Niveau 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Jeff Madsen
Jeff Madsen

Jeff Madsen was leading the $1,500 Stud Hi-Lo at the end of Day 1 and the 2006 WSOP Player of the Year is still rocking. He just crippled John Kim, leaving him with less than one big bet left.

Kim had open queens, but Madsen had eights and his hole cards were all heavily connected to his board.

John Kim: {X-}{X-} / {4-Spades}{Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{10-Spades} / {X-}
Jeff Madsen: {X-}{X-} / {6-Hearts}{8-Spades}{8-Clubs}{9-Clubs} / {X-}

Madsen certainly liked his runout on from fourth street, as he found {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{7-Spades} in his hole. "Full house," he confirmed, showing his hand that put Kim close to the bottom line.
