Armstrong Scoops Stann

Niveau 16 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Mark Armstrong called Dave Stann's bets on fourth and fifth streets before betting sixth and seventh himself. Armstrong snapped on sixth but paused on seventh, eventually calling anyway.

Dave Stann: {X-}{X-} / {K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} / {X-}
Mark Armstrong: {X-}{X-} / {3-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} / {X-}

"Straight and low," Armstrong declared, and Stann knew he was beaten. Armstrong proved his statement, exposing his hole cards: {2-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{5-Spades} for a seven-high straight and a seven-low.

Treccarichi Eliminates Racener

Niveau 16 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
John Racener
John Racener

John Racener got his remaining 17,000 in against Walter Treccarichi on the first round of betting.

Racener: {6-Hearts}{7-Clubs}/{6-Diamonds}
Treccarichi: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}/{a-Hearts}

Racener picked up {2-Spades}{10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}, while Treccarichi got {k-Spades}{2-Hearts}{q-Spades}. Treccarichi's river was the {5-Spades}, so he finished with trip kings, meaning Racener needed a nine for a straight or another live low card for half the pot. He turned over a {7-Diamonds} for useless two pair and headed for payouts.

Pescatori Rushing Upward After Eliminating Watson

Niveau 16 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Mike Watson
Mike Watson

Mike Watson had most of his stack in the middle against Max Pescatori going into seventh street.

Watson: {x-}{x-}/{a-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{q-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Pescatori: {x-}{x-}/{5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

When they got their last cards, Watson put in his remaining chips, and Pescatori showed him {8-Clubs}{6-Spades}{7-Diamonds} as he dropped in a call, having hit a straight on the river. Watson nodded and mucked, and the dealer exposed his {4-}{4-}{8-} for queens up.

"What a rush," Allen Kessler said.

"And I hope it continues," Pescatori replied.

No Second Bracelet for Either Vitch or Fuchs

Niveau 16 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Chris Vitch and Carol Fuchs have both already seized their first WSOP bracelets, but they're no longer hoping to add another from the $1,500 Stud Hi-Lo Event. Both Vitch and Fuchs were eliminated just a few moments ago.

Ferguson Ousted

Niveau 16 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

The fatal hand was already over by the time we arrived, with Chris Ferguson leaving the table. Dimitrios Magdalinos was stacking new chips to add to his already-huge stack.

"Nice to meet you, sir," Magdalinos told Ferguson, who returned the compliment: "Nice playing with you."

Bonomo and Bohn Chop a Huge One

Niveau 16 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

We came upon seventh street at Table 723 with four bets already in the pot between Justin Bonomo, Ernest Bohn, and Vasu Amarapu, and Jacek Ladny all in.

Bonomo: {x-}{x-}/{8-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{2-Spades}/{x-}
Amarapu: {x-}{x-}/{a-Spades}{q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}/{x-}
Bohn: {x-}{x-}/{2-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}/{x-}
Ladny: {6-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}

We didn't see Ladny's cards until showdown, but he wound up with a mere pair of queens. Bonomo put in a fifth bet, and Amarapu tanked a bit and folded with a sigh. Bohn called with {6-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Spades} for a straight and a six-low. Bonomo had {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for a flush on the high end, and they chopped the pot, while Ladny was eliminated and Amarapu left short.

Ferguson Escapes Elimination on Seventh

Niveau 16 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Charles Barker was all in, and Chris Ferguson ended up all in on sixth street, too. Walter Treccarichi was in good shape to score a double knockout.

Charles Barker: {J-}{J-}{A-}{K-}{10-}{8-}{6-}
Walter Treccarichi: {8-}{8-}{7-}{5-}{4-}{4-}{3-}
Chris Ferguson: {A-}{10-}{9-}{8-}{7-}{5-} / {X-}

Treccarichi had two pair, eights and fours, and an eight-seven low. Barker knew his tournament was over. Ferguson hoped for a tie. A six would earn him a winning high hand with a straight, while any deuce, three or four would earn him the best low. Ferguson found the {2-Spades} for a low to chop with Treccarichi.

Kessler Doubles Through Iacofano

Niveau 16 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Allen Kessler just got his remaining chips in against Kevin Iacofano and had trip fives, waiting for Iacofano to sweat out his last card. Kessler was dodging a lot of outs, since Iacofano had four to a flush and four to a seven-low, but he rolled over a useless high brick on the end, and "Chainsaw" found a much-needed double.

Aces Up for Hughes

Niveau 16 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

What initially started as a three-way pot got eventually reduced to a battle between Ryan Hughes and Phil Hui as the other player folded on fifth street where Hughes led out. Hui remained in the contest, calling. Hughes paired his ace on sixth and continued betting, and Hui stuck around with three low cards on his board.

Phil Hui: {X-}{X-} / {5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{8-Clubs} / {X-}
Ryan Hughes: {X-}{X-} / {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{A-Spades} / {X-}

They made it to showdown, and Hughes announced, "Aces up," rolling over {J-Spades}{7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} for his hole cards. Hui failed to make a low, and he couldn't beat two pair either, ending up scooped.
